Article Title :: I could write a book about that.

I could write a book about that. How often have you heard that? My mother's favourite phrase, when something in her family background such as living with my great-uncle Stanley in the beautiful Cotswold village of Lower Slaughter, (just up the road from Bourton-on-the-Water), during the Second World War, came to mind was, "I could write a book about that". She never did of course. However her sons, having heard this phrase throughout their lives, rather took it to heart. One of them dabbled in a bit of poetry and ended up as a music teacher and writer of music, and the other, older and a bit more disciplined, went into the law (lots and lots of writing, but writing books? not yet). The el  (read full article)

Article Title :: Profiles of the Powerful: Advertising Exec Steve Grasse

After ten minutes with Ed Tettemer in the offices of the agency he founded with partner, Steve Red, you begin to understand the agency's passion for excellence. After an hour with Ed, you begin to understand the intensity of his personal passion. You begin to understand it but I have a feeling that, even after days and days of exposure to him, you probably wouldn't get the whole picture. "Passion," the word, may seem descriptive of a complicated set of feelings and opinions. Oddly, in thinking about Ed Tettemer's passion for his agency and its clients, it seems rather simple. It's just that he wants everything to be excellent: excellent clients, excellent co-workers, excellent marketing so  (read full article)

Article Title :: The Bid-Pyramid, a new advertising tool

The Bid-Pyramid.com is a new and quite inventive way for advertising. A 22-year old student from Belgium came up with the idea. The main idea is that advertisers can buy a stone of the pyramid and the one who bids the most gets the top stone. Looking at other recent advertising sites who use an imageblock, has shown that internet traffic sometimes increases with a 150% These new kinds of ideas are pretty cool and I hope they will keep on going for a while. The ideas a simple but cool. Visit the site at www.bid-pyramid.com   (read full article)

Article Title :: Profiles of the Powerful: Advertising Exec Dudley Fitzpatrick

In a sense, the entrance to SFGT is a window into the person who leads the company, Dudley Fitzpatrick, CEO. Open the big front door of the old town house on Walnut Street and the first thing you notice is three old stone steps. Couldn't they afford new steps? Then you see the second door. It's all glass and through it you see the modern reception room, the classic furniture, the attractive receptionist and the small oriental rug in the center of the beautiful wood floor. "I get it," you think to yourself. When you meet Dudley and chat with him, you really get it. He's a traditionalist, like the steps and the beams on the ceiling. He's confident and assertive, like the stately furniture an  (read full article)

Article Title :: "PREACHERS OF LOVE" VERSUS "PREACHERS OF HATE

"PREACHERS OF LOVE" VERSUS "PREACHERS OF HATE" Vosselaar, 4th January 2006 - First of all, I wish all my readers a very Happy New Year. In the justification for the writing of my book "A Holy Terror", I mention an unavoidable clash between the "Preachers of Love" and the "Preachers of Hate". Everyone knows that I mean Christians and Muslims. Let me be very clear, that this has nothing to do with racism or some form of discrimination. I am convinced, that all human beings, no matter to what race they belong, or what colour they have, are equal, no race is superior to another. On the other hand, there are considerable differences between the civilizations and cultures. Very short, I will tr  (read full article)

Article Title :: Premiums and Freemiums- Who's Doing What?

Just like in the fashion industry, premiums have their hot sellers and their has-beens. The industry is sensitive to changes in technology that render some premiums obsolete, and to political events that affect the business climate. Stan Konik, President of Konik and Company, a merchandise premium supplier to the publishing industry for over 30 years, reports that cameras, which used to be very popular, are now defunct, thanks to digital photography. Calculators and many electronics have also gone by the wayside, he added. Some premiums simply go out of vogue. Pens, for example, are now dead. Umbrellas are only used on a limited basis, because the quality is not there at the price point mar  (read full article)
