| Article Title :: The Importance of Whole-Brain Thinking |
| |
|
Understanding the parts of our brains, knowing them all, and
getting them together for effective functioning is Emotional
Intelligence. It means being able to engage in whole-brain
thinking, and the whole is definitely greater than the sum of
its parts.
Our brain consists of three brains, the reptilian, or primitive
brain; the limbic brain; and the neocortex. Furthermore, the
neocortex, the thinking brain, is divided into two parts – a
left and right hemisphere.
The reptilian and limbic brains deal with emotions. The
reptilian deals with the lower ones needed for survival, such as
territorial aggression and defense, sex, and disgust. These
feelings are automatic, and beyond our control. (read full article) |

| Article Title :: After a Crisis or Trauma |
| |
|
Crises and traumas change our lives. We talk about Post
Traumatic Stress Syndrome, but did you know they can also change
us for the better? There is also a Post traumatic Stress Growth
Syndrome. Many people come out of crises stronger and more
resilient, and have learned many new life skills.
When people talk about a crisis they’ve weathered here are some
of the things they say have resulted.
1.Change in priorities.
It’s common after you go through a crisis to look at things
differently. One thing it often does is show us how fragile life
is. If we have lost someone, or nearly lost our own life, or
something important, we take a look at our lives and figure out
what really matters. Y (read full article) |

| Article Title :: What's Making You So Tired? |
| |
|
Mary was always exhausted. Despite working out, eating well,
taking supplements, and even having therapy, there was something
dragging her down she couldn’t figure out.
When I first talked to her, she described a good job, a
supportive spouse, a good set of friends, and some interesting
hobbies. She had even just returned from a vacation, but the
fact it hadn’t refreshed her caused her to call for coaching.
She wanted to brainstorm on what was going on and what she could
do differently.
“What did you think about when you were on vacation?” I asked
her. It seemed a good place to start.
“What I should’ve done before I left home,” she replied, and
went on to describe a long (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Mush Brain: What To Do About It |
| |
|
You’re frustrated, hurt, betrayed, scared, desperate, or
desperately in love and there you sit, stand, walk or stomp
around, with nothing “intelligent” coming out of your mouth.
Maybe you cry, maybe you lash out, maybe you stammer, maybe you
pout or roll your eyes in disgust, maybe you sit, moony-eyed and
tongue-tied or say exactly what you meant not to say, and
through it all you realize nothing you’re doing is helping
anything. Where is your brain when you need it the most?
When we’re under strong emotions, our brains turn to mush. What
is going on?
Why This Happens
What happens is we’re under threat. That’s how our primitive
brain is taking it anyway, the one that’s (read full article) |

| Article Title :: The Top 10 Ways To Take the Fear Out of Retiring |
| |
|
1.“What do you mean, you hate to travel?”
Have you and your spouse actually sat down and discussed how
each of you envisions retirement? If your dreams are completely
opposite of your spouse’s, both of you are going to be
disappointed. Honestly talk about them before you get the gold
watch. Be creative and open to compromise, so both of your
dreams can come true.
2.“You mean, you’re here ALL the time, now?”
Spending all this quality time together may seem like a
wonderful idea, but remember, you both have daily routines, some
of which may have been 30 years in the making. Also, you’re not
used to spending 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in each other’s
company. Experienced (read full article) |

Them! Copyright 2004, By Rita Fisher, Certified Professional

1. Lack of focus in the resume
Are you going from a Production Manager position to
Pharmaceutical Sales?
So…why does your resume start with this objective: “To obtain a
challenging position that will provide continued growth,
learning and advancement”
HUH?
What does THAT mean?
I mean, if you are trying to change careers, you should probably
be more specific about it.
Something like this:
“Award-winning, top-producing and dynamic Production Manager
interested in applying proven revenue generation and rapport
building skills in a Pharmaceuti (read full article) |

| |
|
As we close the gap between physical, mental and emotional
health, realizing that they all influence one another, it’s
becoming more evident that attitude makes a difference. It isn’t
so much what’s happening, as how we feel about what’s happening.
I’m reminded of a visit to my obstetrician some years ago, when
pregnant with my second child and delighted. He told me how nice
it was to have someone so happy in his office. “49% of my
patients are pregnant and don’t want to be, and 49% aren’t
pregnant and want to be.” So, the same news delivered, you
should pardon the expression, brought different feelings.
You're probably aware that being optimistic and resilient can
help (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Do You Have What It Takes? |
| |
|
When you read that, what did you think of first? The muscle?
The brain? The education? The technical skills?
You may need any of those things for any given achievement. If
you’re trying to become a pro basketball player, you’ll need
muscle. If you’re trying to get a college degree, you’ll need
brain. If you want to become a plumber, you’ll need education,
and if you want to be a lab tech, you’ll need technical skills.
But there’s one thing you’ll need no matter what you’re trying
to accomplish, and that’s patience.
As Shakespeare said: “How poor are they that ha’ not patience! /
What wound did ever heal but by degrees? / Thou know’st we work
by wit and not by (read full article) |

Find Your Balance Helaine Iris © 2004
The other day I was introducing myself to a group of busy
professionals. I told them I especially loved to work with women
who feel they are overworked and have no life; and lack balance
between their work life and their personal life.
As I was heading out the door to my next appointment a woman
from the group stopped me and said she really wanted to work
with me, and she could totally relate to being one of those out
of balance women.
Neither of us had our calendars so she took my business card and
promised to be in touch to set up an appointment. She seemed
inspired about finding balance in her life and I was excited at
the prospect of a new cli (read full article) |

| |
|
*Quick Quiz*
1) Name the brand and model of the television(s) in your house
or apartment. 2) How much did your computer cost, and where did
you purchase it? 3) What is the serial number on your camera?
Could you answer those questions without looking? Now imagine
how difficult it would be to come up with this information for
ALL of your belongings while dealing with the stress of a fire,
burglary, or natural disaster. In such a case, you may spend
countless hours trying to remember everything only to realize
what you forgot after your claim has been processed. You might
not even be able to produce the required proof for the claim to
be accepted.
How can a home inventory help?
In the unf (read full article) |
