| Article Title :: Satellite TV can be an eye opening experience! |
| |
|
There are many appealing aspects to satellite television. From
the many freebies that the companies try to entice you with, to
the appealing price of the monthly service, to the value of the
basic service, to the quality of the picture and sound.
Satellite TV is a digital broadcast, and as such it has an
enhanced picture and sound quality built in. Satellite TV also
boasts an optional HDTV broadcast, which at 1080 lines of
resolution makes it roughly 3 times sharper than regular
television.
Many people are not even aware that with your satellite dish you
can also get Internet service as well. For many people who live
in remote locations, satellite TV is their only choice, but many
are be (read full article) |

| |
|
With VoIP technology entering the mainstream, it brings the
possibilities or huge profits for the companies that provide the
service. The current promise of cost savings is driving more and
more residential and business users to investigate this
technology. But the local telephone companies are not going to
give up customers without a fight.
There is a current mandate by the US federal government that all
VoIP providers offer E911 service. The initial blocking of this
information was with the public switched telephone network
maintained by the major telephone companies
The next stumbling block is 'naked DSL' or DSL access without
local phone service. This service is rare, but without it a (read full article) |

WILIBOX ports embedded Linux wireless platform with enterprise
and telecom grade feature set to a widely available 802.11
hardware platforms
Kaunas, Lithuania - November 23, 2005 - WILIBOX, embedded
Linux and IEEE 802.11 specialists ported the embedded Linux
software platform WILI-S to an affordable 802.11 hardware
platform based on Atheros System on Chip.
The combination of highly functional WILI-S software platform
and industry standard mass produced hardware opens new horizons
for the wide deployment of 802.11 networks implementing
functions and network structures earlier available only on
expensive enterprise and carrier grade wireless devices and

| Article Title :: What's The Story With VoIP? |
| |
|
Unless you've been residing in a cave for the last couple of
years, you've probably at least heard the word "VoIP" even if
you didn't realize what all the excitement is about.
VoIP stands for "Voice over Internet Protocol" and it's going
to change the way you think about making long distance phone
calls. Basically, VoIP technology turns analog audio signals
(like the sounds you hear when talking on your regular
telephone) into a digital signal (which is then transmitted over
the Internet.) So why is VoIP revolutionizing the industry?
Because it means that by acquiring your hands on some of the
free software that's available right now, you can totally bypass
your telephone compan (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Toddler With Communication Difficulties |
| |
|
Does your toddler or young child have problems with their
speech? Are you a child who has a stutter/stammer? In this
article I write about communication and speech problems in
childhood.
The type of speech impediment I am going to concentrate on is
stuttering. I myself had a stutter from the age of four and it
was after eighteen years and at the age of twenty-two, that I
finally managed to overcome it.
I was not alone as many children have problems with their speech
from an early age. It is estimated that one percent of people in
England have a stutter.
In most cases people start stuttering in childhood, often when
they are a toddler. This can be a very worrying and stressful
period for (read full article) |

| |
|
Wireless and Mobile Multimedia Technology Bluetooth:
Bluetooth is a short-range radio link intended to replace the
calble(s) connecting portable and/or fixed electronic devices.
Key features are robustness, low complexity, low power and low
cost [1]. There are already similar standards in this market,
such as IrDA, HomeRF and IEEE 802.11 family. Bluetooth is
designed to offer some unique advantages that none of the others
can provide. However, as a result of the lower data rate and
transmission range, Bluetooth offers much lower cost per node
(approximately 5 ~ 10% of HomeRF and IEEE 802.11). So it is more
suitable for applications involving low data rate (data and
voice), small number of (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Engage brain before putting mouth into gear |
| |
|
NOTE TO SELF: "Engage brain before putting mouth into gear."
I couldn't find the origin of this saying, but it ranks in my
top ten instructions for successful living. It's just another
way of saying, "Think before you speak," but it sounds much more
important.
When your mouth gets moving before your brain is engaged, your
inner brat is unfettered. There is no filter to prevent you from
saying things you might later regret.
Here are some risks of speaking without thinking:
- You might hurt/alarm/offend others, intentionally or not
- You might regret betraying secrets and confidences
- You might lose the advantage while negotiating
- You might lose respect from others
- Your reputati (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Satellite Phones vs Cell Phones (Which One is Right for You?) |
| |
|
There are several factors that differentiate satellite phones
from cell phones. How they work, their utility and cost just to
name a few.
Functionality Differences
Cellular phones or cell phones use small stations or towers
known as ‘cells' from which they receive their signals and
to which they send signals. As the user moves from one
destination to the next, his call or his cellular service is
passed on from cell to the next. The mobile handset is thus in
continuous connectivity with the different cells of the network
provider and the individual can talk on the move. This is thus
known as mobile connectivity.
Satellite phones on the other hand, do not use ‘cells' or
towers (read full article) |

| Article Title :: SMS Gateway Basics |
| |
|
Cellular service providers who offer SMS also offer public SMS
gateways, which allow you to compose and send messages from the
service provider's web site. A number of independently operated
message gateways also exist on the Internet. Some gateways have
more features than others. A few let you compose messages to
more than one recipient, create group lists, manage messages,
and send pre-set or customized replies.
By using a public gateway you can send a message to a device on
another network, and friends or business associates without
SMS-equipped phones or pagers can send messages to you. If you
don't have access to your e-mail account, or an SMS-equipped
phone, a public gateway (availa (read full article) |

| Article Title :: How to Rid Yourself of Phone Charges with Internet Phone Service |
| |
|
Session Initiation Protocol and Short Message Service (SIP and
SMS respectively) refer to frameworks that allow devices to
communicate directly with one another without the need for a
central routing computer. It seems rather surprising that a mere
framework can so radically change the face of communication, but
in the few years since their explosion onto the communications
world, SIP and SMS have done just that.
The brilliance of SIP and SMS is that they are able to bypass
the traditional telephony model whereby a line had to be routed
through a telephone hub and maintained for the duration of a
call to complete the conversation. The process of routing and
establishing connection as well (read full article) |
