 Article Title :: You Lucky Dog You

You lucky Dog you, that is until baby comes along. Is it possible for pets and babies to co-exist in peace! From every corner I received advice on how things will have to change with our dog once the baby comes along. Everyone said there is no way they can live together in the same house without baby getting sick or worse still being bitten. How wrong they all were! There is no doubt about it, you certainly need to take great care when mixing pets with babies and you should definitely never leave a baby or child alone with any animal. However, we couldn't have got a better playmate for our little toddler. He absolutely adores our little white powder puff. There are some tips though to e  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Potty Train Your Baby From Age 3 Weeks

A new mom will quickly learn when baby is telling her that he is tired or hungry. Baby will also tell you when he is about to soil his diaper - or 'eliminate' in the jargon. The signs are usually a grunting and moving into a certain position. My son used to get this far away look on his face and he would be very noisy so that everyone around him knew what was on the way! Many moms in America are now practicing 'elimination communication' whereby they watch baby for signs that he is ready to 'eliminate' and then dangle him over the toilet or a potty. The technique does require virtually constant observation of the baby but apparently baby soon learns the procedure and knows that if he grunt  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Character Building by Designing Parents

Think carefully about what your child needs when you teach right from wrong. Research reveals 92% of high school students say they are satisfied with their own ethics and character, yet 1/4 admit stealing within the past year. (Josephson Institute of Ethics) You gave your child the gift of life. Give your child character too. The method below offers you a Character Building Activity. I remember counseling with an overworked mom who gave very little time to her daughter. The police caught 10-year old Jessica shoplifting not once but twice. Children who steal at an early age may be filling a hole in their hearts - lack of time with their parents. Find out how Jessica's mom used the 3- D A  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Ooooh Scary!!

With Halloween just around the corner, why not consider doing some ghoulish crafts with your children? One of my favorite crafts to do with the kids is Halloween candle making. Your kids will love it, and it is appropriate for any age group. You will need the following supplies to get started: 1. A pillar candle. 2. Some "cut and carve" wax. 3. Some wax adhesive. 4. Halloween cookie cutters. 5. A shallow pan. Heat your "cut and carve" wax, and pour it into the shallow pan. Be sure that you fill the pan approximately 1/4 inch., and try to ensure your pan is on a level surface. Allow the wax to cool, but not until it has completely hardened. After the wax has cooled somewhat, use your   (read full article)

 Article Title :: The John Wayne vs Apron String Approach to

My husband and I have different views on parenting. He likes to recount a scene from an old John Wayne movie, "Hondo", where a young boy doesn't know how to swim. Raised solely by his mother who was never able to teach him, the boy was afraid of the water. Hondo, in true John Wayne manner, picks up the lad and flings him out in the middle of a pond. And guess what? He swims. Had to. Or he would have drowned. And that's been pretty much my husband's approach. His advice for parents would be to just chuck the kid out into the middle of the pond. Let him sink ...or swim. He's pretty much the same way when it comes to managing child behavior. "Let reality be the teacher", he'd advise. Learn f  (read full article)
