Jalapeno Jelly by Joyce Moseley Pierce 468 words
Need a quick treat for those upcoming holiday office gatherings?
A few years ago I was introduced to the combination of Wheat
Thins(TM), cream cheese and jalapeno jelly! Don't let the
jalapeno scare you. There are two ways to combat the "fire" you
feel on your tongue caused by these hot peppers, and that's with
milk or bread. Whoever created this Southwest delicacy knew what
they were doing. The cream cheese and cracker are there to calm
the nerve endings in your tongue so you can enjoy the blend of
flavors.
The kick in this jelly is a delicious way to open the eyes, as
well as the taste buds, of your friends and co-workers. Just
place a b (read full article) |

Microwave Caramel Corn by: Joyce Moseley Pierce - 437 words
Part of the hesitation in making caramel corn is the sticky,
gooey mess that remains once you've finished making it. You
almost need a blow torch to remove the hardened sugary stuff
from your pans.
Help is on the way! This recipe can be made in your microwave,
and when you're finished, you can just throw the paper sack away.
This doesn't mean that it doesn't take a little preparation
time, but at least you can relax and enjoy the finished product
without having to worry about a lot of cleanup.
Next time you go to the grocery store, ask for your groceries in
paper bags. You'll need one bag per batch.
Here's what you'll need: 3 (read full article) |

Fabric Holiday Bags by: Joyce Moseley Pierce - 641 words
As my children were growing up, it always bothered me to buy
wrapping paper only to see it ripped open and thrown in the
fireplace or trash after Christmas gifts were opened. I tried
using comics but soon discovered I didn't like the black
newsprint it left on my hands and everyone else's. For me, gift
wrap was right up there with fireworks - we spent good money
only to see it go up in smoke. I began to look for a solution.
I bought craft paper and stenciled things on it, but still, I
felt the paper was going to waste. Then one year after Christmas
I saw holiday fabric on sale and had an idea! I bought yard
after yard of it on clear (read full article) |

Sugarless Peach Crisp by Joyce Moseley Pierce - 452 words
>From time to time I realize that I am out of control with
refined sugar and decide it's time to give it up. My first
experience with being sugarless was about 15 years ago. I worked
with a woman who was considering what she might give up for
Lent. I liked the idea of sacrificing something and even though
I wasn't Catholic, I decided to give up sugar. I went as far as
reading every label and eliminating anything with "sugar" or any
of its other names on the label. I also gave up anything with
artificial sweeteners - they're even more questionable than the
real thing! Six weeks later, I was amazed to find that I had
lost 8 pounds.

No Pecans in this Pecan Pie! (618 words) by: Joyce Moseley Pierce
I used to think I was the only one who liked the gooey filling
in pecan pie but hated the pecans on top. That all changed when
one of my co-workers commented one day that he, too, hated
picking through the pecans to get to the good stuff.
For his birthday, I decided my contribution to the birthday
treat table would be a pecan-free pecan pie. I got out my trusty
Betty Crocker cookbook and looked up "Pecan P (read full article) |

| Article Title :: The Truth About Santa Claus |
| |
|
Christmas carols evoke visions of holiday cheer and wonderful,
tender family moments. There is "I'm Dreaming of a White
Christmas," a classic that has spanned the time of many
generations. There are numerous books and articles written about
Christmas, such as "Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus." A
letter written by an 8-year-old New York girl received a
national response from the newspaper she sent it to - The Sun.
Many young children struggle with the thought of Santa Claus.
Some of their friends laugh at them for believing, and some
parents go to great lengths to protect and preserve this belief
in their small children.
In reality, young and old, would like to believe in a wonderf (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Texas Pecan Treats |
| |
|
Come August, there is nowhere I'd rather NOT be than in Texas.
Steamy, sultry, and hot, living in Texas in August is like
trying to breathe in a tightly-covered pressure cooker.
But in November, I remember the joys of Texas. Cool breezes and
balmy fall days refresh the senses and invite us outside once
again. On streets and in parks, pecans are ripe for gathering
and shelling.
Those of you who think pecans come in 6-ounce plastic
supermarket packages have missed the true texture and flavor of
a real Texas treat. Best of all are the small native pecans with
shells like granite. But once you've cracked them, there are no
better fall treats to be had.
With the holidays rapidly approaching, (read full article) |

| |
|
We all know the story of the Christmas Star. On that special
night, this star shines with a brillance that is not seen
year-round, and announces to the world that all is not lost and
hope is still there for those who choose to take advantage of
it.
But, what about all those zillions of other stars that seem to
be also brighter on this night of all nights - well, as a child,
I was told of an old legend that I hold dear even to this day.
Every star out there has a name of someone - they are made up of
tears and smiles, joy and pain. The first tear of joy of a new
mother and the first tear of pride of a new dad as they hold
their son/daughter for the first time and realize that this life

| Article Title :: The Red Balloon of Happiness |
| |
|
Just when you think you know it all, some 17-month old child
comes along and teaches you another valuable life lesson.
Little Lady lost her favorite ball. There are few things that
bring this 17-month-old more joy than playing with her favorite
ball. And, of course, we want our daughter to have all the
happiness she can get.
So we headed out to the store to replace the missing ball.
Little Lady enjoyed the outing, since there were so many
exciting things to pull off shelves. And when we reached the
ball aisle, she nearly jumped for joy. (OK, more like raced to
the bin and started covering the floor with her joy, one bounce
at a time.)
As we left the aisle, Little Lady was happy and smil (read full article) |
