| Article Title :: Night Fishing for Speckled Trout |
| |
|
Night fishing for speckled trout has become my favorite
saltwater fishing tactics. Start off the morning waiting at home
or at work for sunset, load up the truck with my heavy-duty
night light, rod and reel, lure box and head off to my secret
fishing spot were it's only me and 100's of speckled trout to be
caught. Speckled trout night fishing is easy for youngsters to
start getting in love with saltwater fishing at night. I would
suggest that the first outing would be some were private. I have
seen many things happen at night on a fishing pier, mostly kids
getting hooked in the face or knocked down by a fisherman not
looking where he was going.

| |
|
The history of women's college basketball started in Smith
College for girls in 1893. But the first official basketball
match played by women was between Stanford and Berkley in April
1896, which was played behind locked doors, for women eyes' only.
The first rules for women basketball were drawn up in 1901.
These included rules that we would find peculiar today like
having the basket sewn, where the umpire had to retrieve the
ball after each score, and even playing on grass courts!
In 1975, the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics was
formed and the first national basketball tournament for women
was held. In the same year, the first All-American women
basketball team was selected.

The year was 1976, the place was Milton, Florida, a small,
semi-rural community in the Florida panhandle, not far from
Pensacola, where I had grown up. I had recently returned to
northwest Florida, after working as an accountant for the
Florida State Department of Education in Tallahassee and
Sarasota, to take the position of Business Manager for the Santa
Rosa County Mental Health Clinic.
It was a beautiful sunny day, and I was standing outside Red's
service station on one of Milton's street corners (You remember
service stations, right?) while a set of tires was being put on
my car. I had a lot of my automobile maintenance done at Red's,
and frequently bou (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Enhance Your Finnish Vocabulary in a Finnish Sauna |
| |
|
Among the great benefits a traditional Finnish sauna offers is a
thorough cleansing of the body. The heat of the sauna helps to
open pores in the skin and flush out built-up bacteria through
heavy perspiration. Regular sauna use is also good for blood
circulation, pain relief, and strengthening the body's immune
system. Health benefits such as these have been touted in
numerous books and articles that have been written on the
subject of Finnish saunas.
However, there is one potential benefit of traditional sauna
bathing that has been repeatedly overlooked by even the most
fervent supporters of the Finnish sauna. As obvious as it may
seem in hindsight, it's still worth mentioning: the tradi (read full article) |

Anyone can be a farmer. Growing plants can be done almost
anywhere. You don't have to have large fields and hundreds of
acres. You have to have imagination. People who grow dope do it
in cellars and in caves. Select plants to raise that that you
see being sold in quanity by local nurseries or garden centers.
In our area Arborvitae are in hot demand. These plants can be
started from cuttings or you can buy rooted cuttings. Thousands
can be grown in a 20'x20' area in small containers. Arborvitae
are not the only plants that you can choose. Dwarf conifers and
bonsai are other avenues to consider. The first thing to
consider is what plants you like. They make a nice starting
point. I like arbor (read full article) |

| |
|
Copyright 2006 Michael Cottier
For thousands of years man has dreamed of flight. Nothing has
amazed people as much as flying machines have in the past
century and there is still more to come. What is even more
amazing though, is the progress in personal flight toys. You can
fly everything from a miniature helicopter, to a one 20th scale
Cessna, which you can build at home yourself.
The more amazing thing about today's RC airplanes is the fact
that anyone can fly them, and some airplanes are very easy to
fly. For example, I bought a $50 Hobby Zone airplane and the
controller had two controls, one that could steer the plane left
or right and then the second was throttle (speed) control. How (read full article) |

| |
|
Golf is the greatest game on earth. It's both exhilirating and
frustrating and it has an ancient history that most other sports
cannot even pretend to match. But unlike many sports it's not
the sort of game that you want to learn on your own. Yes, you
can go out your first time and swing a club at a ball, and some
people will master the game that way. But for the most part, it
takes some kind of guidance from someone who already knows the
game to get you on your feet.
With that in mind, there are three basic ways to learn the
wonderful game of golf.
Hire a pro. If your budget allows it, you can hire a pro to
teach you one-on-one just about everything you need to know. He

| |
|
Opals in history:
In Twelfth Night Shakespeare referred to opal as "the queen of
gems". There is no way to accurately describe the finest opals:
milky white background dotted with red, gold, purple, blue, and
green; a dark night with rainbow lightning. Delicate and
mysterious, opal has been treasures since ancient times for its
unique beauty.
Opal lost much if its popularity in the 19th Century when Sir
Walter Scott published a novel "Anne of Geierstein" (1829). In
this book the heroine owned an opal that burned fiery red when
she was angry and turned ashen gray upon her death. Sales of
opals dropped after the book was published as acquired a
superstition of being "bad luck". The (read full article) |

| Article Title :: More Decorations for the Birds! |
| |
|
Feeding the birds in the winter is a wonderful activity. Your
feathered friends will appreciate your efforts as food is scarce
especially at this time of the year.
You don't have to have fancy bird feeders, or buy expensive
feed to do this.
Simple, but effective feeders:
- a shallow tin can, washed out, can be set on the ground for
those birds that enjoy ground feeding (make sure there are no
sharp edges on the tin)
- a log can be used...simply drill holes in the log to put bird
seed in
- recycle pie tins, they make great bird feeders
- plastic 2 litre pop bottles or milk cartons work well. Cut off
the tops, punch holes in the side and use wire to hang them from
a tree
