| Article Title :: Scrapbooking Memories of 25 Years! |
| |
|
A simple, inexpensive but meaningful gift!
Over the years, I have taken numerous photos of my children
probably just like many thousands upon thousands of parents.
This past week my son turned 25 years old, and I decided to make
him a scrapbook of his first twenty-five years.
My first thoughts were to do a page of pictures for each year
of his 25 years. Once I started going through the pictures,
however, themes started to emerge.
Along with these themes, I put motivational quotes on each
page. The quotes seemed to fit nicely with the pictures and also
had wonderful words of wisdom for his next 25 years.
Here are a few examples of the pages:

over time, even a great leather jacket can turn ugly on you if
it isn't properly maintained.

| Article Title :: Weather Vanes - brief history and different types |
| |
|
Since the dawn of time, weather has had an impact on humans and
how they live, what they do and when. Today, there is an
unbelievable array of land-based and satellite-based equipment
to help monitor, track and predict the weather, but one
primitive tool still used widely is the weather vane.
Weather vanes are common fixtures on the tops of buildings large
and small. The earliest known weather vane was constructed atop
Athens' Tower of the Winds by an astronomer in 48 B.C., but
you've probably seen them topping everything from a historical
government building to your neighbour's barn. For official
purposes, wind is usually measured at a height of 10 metres or
33 feet, making such edifices (read full article) |

| Article Title :: How to Build a Plastic Model Airplane |
| |
|
Plastic model airplane building appeals to a wide variety
of people and age groups. The subjects range from early 20th
century flying machines to modern day jet airplanes. The
included instructions are a good place to start, but creating a
highly-realistic model requires a bit of extra knowledge. Here
are some tips for creating a fantastic model:
The parts are made by injection molding, and are covered with a
material to help release them from the mold. This release agent
will also prevent paint from sticking to the model. Wash the
parts in soap and water, then air dry. Use a hair dryer if
you'd like to speed up the process.

| Article Title :: The Lanyard Legend |
| |
|
The lanyard can be traced back to the late 19th century. It was
originally a piece of cord, used to secure a jack-knife, used as
a weapon in war. The lanyard was worn on the left shoulder with
the end containing the knife tucked into the left breast pocket.
In 1920 the lanyard was moved to the right shoulder, simply
because of the problem of trying to remove the knife from the
pocket underneath the bandolier. In 1933, the knife was removed
completely, and the lanyard became a straight cord, worn purely
as an ornamental item of dress. The basic lanyard was a simple
piece of strong cord, but it was gradually turned into something
a bit more decorative, smartened up with colors and styles,

| Article Title :: Flower Pictures - A Mild Obsession #3 |
| |
|
Yellow daisy, oh yellow daisy - please tell me about fills and
flags! How does one use them effectively?
Good question sighs my daisy. An answer or two...
One can shoot anything straight without flash in good daylight
and get okay results. I've read a load of articles in the last
few months saying that bright sunshine is bad, bad, really bad,
for color saturation when shooting flowers or anything for that
matter - true often, but not always so.
One needs to consider all sorts of things - purpose, time of
day, result required, etc! Dawn and dusk produce warm, shadowy
light and if one wants to take a landscape photograph of note,
this would be the ideal time to do it...using a tripod of

| Article Title :: Managing Your Digital Photos |
| |
|
Countless people are touting the convenience of digital
photography. "It's so easy," they say, "no piles of photographs
to deal with." While it's true that the mess may not be as
visible, there's no doubt that managing digital photos can be an
organizing nightmare! If you're struggling with how to manage
your digital images, then following these tips may help you
regain control:
Choose Only The Best Photos
Our first recommendation is always the same, whether you're
organizing digital images or physical photographs. You must
purge--relentlessly! Immediately delete any photos that are
dark, blurry, or otherwise unattractive. If you've got several
pictures of the same thing, pick on (read full article) |
