| Article Title :: Treasure Hunting - Part 2 |
| |
|
Treasure hunting begins at home. People regularly find famous
old books and valuable antiques in their attics, so get up there
and look. One couple tore open their walls while remodeling, and
found them insulated with thousands of old and valuable movie
posters, put there by a theater owner in the thirties. The
couple sold $200,000 worth of posters, the last I heard.
There are many more ways to go treasure hunting. I used to take
the old telegraph pole insulators form along train tracks, to
sell for $4 each at an antique store. They were otherwise being
shot to pieces by hunters over the years. The colored glass ones
are usually the more valuable ones.

|
Leather Care
When buying leather, the best thing you can do is ask the people
who you buy it from, what the manufacturer recommends for
leather care and cleaning. Don't forget to ask what other
products may work well for leather care too, as there may be
something you're more comfortable using. Also ask what the
product does to and for the leather.
While still alive, leather on the animal, fish, or fowl is
maintained in situ. (It's their skin) The oils that keep leather
conditioned and help remove dirt and grime from the skin of the
animal are produced naturally by their body.
Once leather is processed, these “living” components cease to
exist although they do retain many of their ph (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Photography - Rules of Composition |
| |
|
Composition is defined as the combining of distinct parts or
elements to form a whole. In photography that definition is very
important in taking quality pictures. The following rules of
composition should be learned and considered but not necessarily
used in every photo. Once you have learned these rules you will
be more observant of the possible photo opportunities that
surround you. But keep in mind that the really famous
photographers usually find a creative way to stretch or break
the rules of composition.
RULE OF THIRDS
The rule of thirds has been used through the centuries and is
probably the most recognized rule. The rule of thirds directs
that the frame can be divided into three (read full article) |

| |
|
Portrait is defined as, “A likeness of a person, especially one
showing the face, that is created by a painter or photographer,
for example.” In the area of portrait photography there are some
guidelines that you should consider when you go to take photos
of people.
The different types of portraits are: close-ups, facial shots,
upper body shots or environmental portraits. Environmental
portraits are where you focus on the subject and on their
surroundings that provide more character to the subject.
When people have a camera in their face it usually makes them
nervous and they will try to put on a face that does not portray
who they really are. The real skill to portrait photography i (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Money Making Hobbies |
| |
|
Which ones can be money making hobbies? A friend made a
life-sized cow out of plywood once. He painted it, put it in the
yard, and people started asing if he would sell it. He soon had
a waiting list of customers for his plywood cows. With a profit
of about fifty dollars each, he wasn't getting rich, but isn't
making money with your hobby more fun than a job?
Money Making Hobbies - Two Approaches
The first approach is obvious: Look for ways to make money with
your existing hobby or hobbies. What do you produce that other
people might want? Do you collect dolls? You might produce a
newsletter for other doll collectors, or buy and sell doll
furniture.
The second approach is to think (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Choosing the Perfect Horseshoes |
| |
|
Horseshoes have become synonymous with good fortune. Having them
on your horse’s feet has little to do with attracting good luck,
but a lot with answering to your steed’s needs.
Horses in the wild do not require shoes unlike domesticated
breeds of horse. Those horses that are not worked out and
trained regularly on hard ground do not need them. If a horse’s
foot is hurt, you will not be able to ride it. In order to
maximize a horse’s use, horseshoes are needed in order to
protect the horse’s feet. In their absence, the hoof walls can
crack. And a horse with sore feet will be of little use.
One must check all four of the horse’s feet everyday. You need
to pick them out and ensu (read full article) |

| |
|
When humidors where first created by Zino Davidoff in the early
20th century, they were large cellar humidors which certainly
made for restricted travel. One now had the ability to strive
for the perfect cigar, but only from home. Most people would
agree that the feasibility of traveling with a large room did
not exist, and still does not, even today. A dilemma arose as to
how to preserve a moist cigar while traveling.
Early models of travel humidors were patterned after air-tight
cases in which the cigar aficionado placed cigars already
maintained in a cellar humidor. This worked well except that
when one opened the travel humidor, since the maintained
humidity existed as a result of alre (read full article) |

| |
|
With gemstone beads, every bead is precious. Every bead is
beautiful. A little more effort is needed when stringing a
gemstone necklace together.
First, decide on the design. Take a fishing line and string the
gemstone beads through it. Hold the string of beads around your
neck in front of the mirror to see how the necklace would look.
When you are pleased with your design, then start stringing the
beads together properly.
For that, you need colored thread that matches the beads and
some nylon thread to strengthen the necklace and to needles that
can go through the beads, 1 at a time.
Thread both needles with as much colored string and nylon thread
as they can take. (read full article) |
