| Article Title :: The History of Poker Chips |
| |
|
Gaming chips have been made from a wide range of materials in
an almost infinite variety of styles since the birth of gambling
and the need to keep track of winnings.
The most common material types used today in the manufacture of
modern poker chips are plastic, clay composite, and acrylic
composite. Clay chips, the oldest of the bunch, have been
manufactured in America since the late 1800s.
Back in the 1800s, poker players seemed to use any small
valuable object imaginable. Early poker players sometimes used
jagged gold pieces as well as chips – primarily made of wood and
clay. By the 20th century, poker chip designs began to play a
greater prominence, and the smooth edges of older c (read full article) |

| |
|
Yesterday I bought my third digital camera, the Casio Exilim EX-Z750. I
needed a pocketable camera as the Sony DSC-F717 and the Nikon
D70 are a bit large to carry around in certain situations. At
least, that's how I spun it to my wife.
I thought I'd post a few thoughts I have on the camera here.
First of all the size is striking. So much funtionality in such
a small package, Casio are masters at this sort of thing. I am
also amazed at the battery life from such a teenie battery,
again kudos to Casio. There enough Scene modes included in this
digicam to cover any situation possible, possibly too many
modes. The firmware in this digicam is the best I have seen,
ever. I can even tell this ca (read full article) |

| |
|
Creating heritage scrapbook
albums, or telling your family story, can seem impossible.
Often the difficulty may be in thinking that you have to start
at the beginning, and methodically tell the whole chronology of
your family. Instead, try thinking of your heritage from a theme
standpoint. You can create many albums, with each centered
around a specific theme as it pertains to your family. What do
we mean by themes? Here are some examples.
Military: Create a tribute album of all the men & women
in your family who served in the armed forces. This can be
especially moving if you have ancestors who served in early wars
and family who have served in recent times. Tell a brief history

| Article Title :: Scrapbook Photographs -- How A Picture Can Be Worth A Thousand
Words |
| |
|
For many people, photos are at the heart of their scrapbooks --
and for a very good reason. We all treasure photgraphs of
friends and loved ones, and many of us carry some with us
wherever we go in a wallet or locket or keep photos on our desk
at work. And if disaster were to strike and you had to evacuate
your house, many people say they would save their photo albums
before any other possessions!
So most scrapbooks will contain photographs. Even the most
disinterested reader of your scrapbook will look at them. A
picture really is worth a thousand words. Therefore, it is

| Article Title :: How to run a quilt swap |
| |
|
Lots of quilters enjoy participating in a swap. The main aim of
a swap is to get more of the particular object that you are
swapping. Considering we are talking to quilters here, the
things that they like to swap include, charm squares, completed
blocks or pieces of fabric. To organise a swap you’ll need
participants firstly. These are easily recruited through your
own quilt groups. You must have a theme to the swap that entices
more people to join. Keep the rules simple so that people
understand what they are doing. Rules for swaps include the
size, shape, design or colour of the fabric/block to be swapped.
For instance, you could organise a swap of blue and white, 6.5"
nine patches. You (read full article) |
