Article Title :: TV Remote Controls

Today sitting on a couch, we can flip through hundreds of T.V. channels, tune the T.V. to suit our requirements and perform a host of other operations without moving an inch. The T.V. remote control has become an indispensable gadget.The first T.V. remote, called Lazy Bones, was made in 1950 by the Zenith Corporation. It had a wire attached to it, which connected it to a motor inside the T.V. By pressing the buttons on the remote, viewers could move the motor in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction to move up or down channels. But the remote wire caused plenty of accidents, with people constantly tripping over them.Subsequent developments led to the manufacture of the w (read full article)

Article Title :: DVD Camcorders

When considering a camcorder purchase, there are several factors to take into consideration, Below are some suggestions for criteria you should examine before making a choice.Low-light performance is the most sought-after feature one should look for. If you are shooting in the dark, at night, or in a low-light area, this particular feature will help you maintain the same video or image quality that you have always aimed for. Even room light can be considered as low light, although sellers often avoid it. So you must pay close attention to this feature before making the purchase.Combos or integrated packages that offer both video and still photography options are not always (read full article)

Article Title :: Wireless Speakers

Wireless speakers are a great choice for anyone that wants to get rid of the clutter and tangle of messy wires. Indeed they are also an excellent choice for outdoor use, when stringing wires is not even an option. Hear rock in the kitchen, listen the music in the bathroom & concentrate on your play in the playroom in a steady mind. Of course, setting up wireless speakers is an easy and simple job. Most systems need only be turned on and properly tuned to the receiving speakers without damaging your walls.Wireless speakers generally fall into two categories. Infrared like a television remote control, beams a signal to the speakers, which requires a direct line of site, and remember (read full article)

Article Title :: Digital Camcorders

With digital technology becoming increasingly available, camcorders—both low- and high-range—are finding digital reformation. A few years back, camcorders back looked bulkier, were heavy weight, were difficult to carry, and lacked features that are available now. The digital camcorder avatar answers many of the questions asked by both professionals as well as amateurs.Cameras that used big clunky tapes are now being replaced by chips that are small and with much larger memory sizes. DV tapes that were used until a few years back needed tape adapters for connecting to a VHS VCR or intertwined cables that make out a movie-maker’s muddle.Now that the digital camcorders ar (read full article)

Toddler_o_Geek and I danced until bedtime Sunday night.We started out with Gnarls Barkley (didn’t get us moving) and quickly switched to Futureheads. I pogoed, my daughter stomped. I made the mistake of pogoing toward her instead of just side to side, we then went into full chase mode—I was still dancing (a series of spastic kicks, arms flailing and hopping like a frog) and she screamed around the room as fast as she can navigate the furniture. We got through “Alms” before bathtime (I was freaking her out with my expert lip-synching at this point).I can enjoy myself while dancing because I don’t have to wonder if the music sounds good or not. I don’t have to go u (read full article)

Article Title :: Digital Cameras - Explained

Over the last few years, the picture quality in digital cameras has becoming amazing. As recently as the year 2000, even the very best digital cameras you could buy produced grainy, poor-quality images that could never compare to what film had to offer. Today, though, digital cameras can easily rival and even exceed the quality of film, capturing pin-sharp digital images and never needing to be refilled with anything except power.When you buy a digital camera, the most important thing you should look for is how many mega pixels (million pixels in the image) the photos it takes are. Cameras available today range from about 3MP at the low end to 10MP or more at the high end, with the (read full article)

Article Title :: LCD Televisions - Technology Uncovered

LCD is one of the biggest technologies in television at the moment, set to go head-to-head against plasma screens for the future of TVs.But what do LCD televisions mean to you? Well, to begin with, the picture you get is a lot sharper. By now you’ve probably replaced your old bulky computer monitor with a flat, LCD one, and you’ve no doubt noticed the difference in picture quality and clarity. Now the companies behind LCD want it to do the same for televisions, making them flatter, clearer and altogether better.Another thing to note is that the rise of HDTV (high-definition television) is linked to the rise of LCD televisions. HDTV allows the original TV signal to be bro (read full article)

Article Title :: Set-top Box

Set-top boxThis term describes a specialised computer which translates incoming digital signals into a form suitable for viewing on a standard television set. The source of the signals could be a digital satellite or terrestrial broadcast, a cable television channel or a video-on-demand programme sent down a telephone line.Set-top box, sometimes abbreviated to set-top or STB, is a somewhat misleading term as the device is not necessarily placed on top of the television set and is not necessarily a box.Other projected uses for the set-top box include control of interactive viewing, for example with a home-shopping channel or WebTV; it may also decrypt signals on subscr (read full article)

Article Title :: HD DVD Launch - Top Titles that Geeks Wish They Could Buy

At Frye’s over the weekend I saw two half shelves worth of HD-DVD software. This is only remarkable because I had not been to an electronics superstore recently to see such a display. I know they’ve been out for weeks or a month or a I don’t care.The HD-DVDs were grouped at the end of the anime section just before the nature and historical videos. I can’t remember the first weeks or months of DVD’s launch but it was probably just as pathetic (I remember only seeing Eraser and Twister DVDs for a year before I cared about DVD as a source of entertainment). The discs were packaged in the same clam cases as normal DVDs, the "HD-DVD" banner at the top was the only tip-off. Blo (read full article)
