 Article Title :: LCD TV Reviews

Despite the many new brands available in 2005, the Sharp LCD TVs still remain favorites of critics and public alike. The Aquos line of Sharp TVs is especially applauded for its picture quality. The original Aquos is the Sharp-LC32GD4U, is a 32 inch TV, which is known to produce the best black rendering among all brands. It is available in other versions such as the 45 inch Sharp-LC45GD5U and the 37 inch Sharp-LC37GD4U. Sharp also produces economy versions of its TV in smaller sizes. They haven't got rave reviews, but are still better than other brands on the shelves. Sharp's widescreen version is closely followed by the Sony Vega KDL-32XBR950. The race between the two has been almost neck  (read full article)

 Article Title :: LCD TV Stands

LCD TVs provide excellent high resolution and crystal clear pictures. At the same time, their design is sleek and trendy. It would mar the entire look of the TV if it were placed on a shoddy stand.LCD TV stands are available in all shapes and sizes. Stands may be metal, fiberglass, wood or any other conventional material and of various finishes, such as wood enamel, or metallic or even expensive lacquers.Looks apart, the most important consideration when buying a stand is whether it will support the weight of your television. Most TVs have weight capacities printed in their manuals. Don't be fooled by the size of the stand. A bigger stand does not mean it will bear the weigh  (read full article)

 Article Title :: LCD TV Wall Mounts

LCD TVs provide high resolution images that can be seen from almost all angles. Even overhead TVs can provide very good picture quality. This has made it possible for LCD TVs to be mounted on walls, or even ceilings. Mounting LCD TVs is an ideal solution in places where more floor area is required, like restaurants, discotheques, airports and metro terminals and also in homes where the rooms are small.LCD TVs are mounted by special wall mounts. These are ideally made of metal. Ordinary mounts allow the TV to be fixed on the wall. But there are more sophisticated types that have several rotation angles to make it possible to turn the TV if required. They also have hinge joints on th  (read full article)

 Article Title :: LCD TVs

LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. Originally designed for electronic display devices, now this technology is widely used to manufacture high-resolution televisions. Liquid crystal televisions work on Thin Film Transistor (TFT) technology. Their screen consists of a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between two transparent layers. A bulb placed behind the screen illuminates the TFT panel. Upon receiving the data, the liquid crystals align themselves in various degrees. The alignment of the crystals blocks unwanted light and only required light gets transmitted. The degree of alignment decides what color and contrast will be filtered through the panel.When LCD TVs were first intro  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Plasma vs LCD TVs

For a layman, there seems to be no difference between a plasma and LCD TV. Both provide high-resolution, high-contrast images and both are flat, sleek and can be mounted on a wall. The difference lies in the technology that drives them.Plasma TVs work with inert gases like xenon or neon, which are excited by electric pulses from specialized cells called pixels. This makes the gases glow. These glowing gases, in turn, produce the correct blend of red, blue and green light on the pixels. The pixels are illuminated by a fluorescent light bulb, which is driven by semiconductor software on the motherboard.LCDs are actually thin film transistors (TFT), which contain liquid filled   (read full article)

 Article Title :: The Future of TV - How You'll Be Watching HDTV

It used to be oh so simple. Everybody watched TV the same way; on a TV with big picture tube. As has been common throughout human existence, there were those who were dissatisfied and wanted something better. The tube grew in size, then changed to, Oh My God! Color! After the transition to color, the size of the pictures steadily increased, but still, people wanted more. Behold, the Advent Video Beam 1000 of 1972. This was the first commercially available projection TV. You remember those things, with the big, silver, curved screen and the woodgrain cabinet. The Advent gave people a taste of the big screen TV and we've never looked back.Fast forward 20 years or so. Big screen TVs a  (read full article)

 Article Title :: 1080p - The Future is Now!

First, we all watched NTSC video at 480i, and we liked it, because we knew no better. Then some intrepid(and well off) home theater enthusiasts were lucky enough to enjoy 480p, thanks to the Faroudja LD-100 line doubler or Runco IDTV set ups. Because the Faroudja units cost $20,000.00 in the early ‘90’s, and only worked with data or graphics grade projectors, they were not exactly mass market. As technology improved, prices decreased, and more people could enjoy progressive scan video in their home theaters.Fast forward 15 years or so. Now you can get a DVD player with Faroudja progressive scan technology on a chip for under $200.00. Just about every TV and projector you can bu  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Purchasing a Big Screen Television

Like most other men I enjoy watching a big screen television. In my opinion the bigger the better. But there are so many choices when it comes to purchasing a big screen television it’s easy to get confused. There are three main types of big screen televisions. Plasma, LCD and Rear Projection. Let’s go through the pro’s and con’s of the three.The first is Plasma televisions. These televisions have been praised for their clear picture and thin frame. I’ve found these televisions to deliver a high quality picture. They are so slim they can be hung on the wall like a picture frame saving a lot of space in the lounge room. The downside is they don’t have a very lon  (read full article)

 Article Title :: DVD Players/Recorders

DVD players have been around for a long time now and have become quite cheap to purchase. Even though they all play the same DVD’s there are several features some DVD players have.Most DVD players can play music. This is important if you don’t have a stereo at home. It’s also great if you have music backed up to DVD’s as you can choose from a huge selection of songs as DVD’s have a much greater capacity than CD’s.An important thing to look for in a DVD player is if it plays different formats of video. For example some DVD players play DivX and windows media files making the DVD player a lot more functional in terms of compatibility.Now to the recording  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Plasma TV and LCD TV: Televisions of the Future

Although both the devices display a big picture in a thin case, there are many notable differences between the two.The plasma television sets are larger than the LCD ‘s and measure about 42 inches. The size of the LCD is approximately 37 inches. But a 42-inch LCD TV would cost $1000 more than the plasma television set. The LCD TV’s weigh lighter compared to the plasma set. The plasma television sets are bulky and therefore they constantly require installation. They must be well structured in order to prevent overheating due to constant usage by a means of proper ventilation.The plasma televisions exhibit a contrast background and therefore are well appropriate for watchi  (read full article)
