| Article Title :: People Who Make a Difference - Get Smart - "Missed It... by that Much!" |
| |
| There would hardly be a single person on the entire planet who has not seen at least one episode of the 1960's TV comedy "Get Smart." Yes I am talking about that bumbling Agent 86 - Maxwell Smart.I know that as a young boy growing up I used to love the crazy antics of this show - KAOS, Control, Agent 99 (Barbara Feldon), bad guy Siegfried, the Chief (Edward Platt), Himey the humanoid, Larabie who always hid in the strangest places, the useless "cone of silence," the shoe phone and much more. So, it was with great sadness that we all heard of the recent passing of its wonderful prime actor, Don Adams. Some people leave an indelible mark on the world and Don was indeed one of t (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Charlie Chaplin at the Jeu De Paume |
| |
| It seemed more than a little ironic that the front door of the Jeu de Paume, the venue of Sam Stourdzé's "Chaplin et les Images" (Chaplin in Pictures) exhibit looks out on Place de la Concorde, just a few short steps from the façade of the Hotel Crillon where Charlie looked down from his position on the first floor balcony at the hoards of adoring Parisians creating a traffic quagmire there in March 1931. Paris and Parisians have been and continue to be kind to Charlie, to hold him in their hearts as well as their minds. This summer in Paris, Charlie Chaplin films were on television every Sunday night, Monsieur Verdoux and The Great Dictator were being shown on the big sc (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Tear Away the Feeling of Sorrow with Your Tears |
| |
| I reside in a vowel shaped house. I hate to be inside. But I can’t come out when I wish. Once I come out, I cannot go in. If I dare to come out, I will be ruined. If I don’t, you will be in deep sorrow. Who am I? I am someone delicate who is wiped away as I come out. I am just a transparent pearly ‘Tear drop.’Some people hate me while others like me. My existence is due to the presence of problems, sorrow or extreme love. When you are in deep trouble, invite me. Let me jump out of your beautiful eyes and fall apart. Only when I come out, will you be in happiness. You often keep me inside of your eyes as if I am your precious secret hidden treasure. But I like to explore th (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Remembering 6 October 1976 - the Forgotten Massacre |
| |
| 6 October was another black mark in Thai politics. After 14
October 1973, a new PM, new constitution and fresh elections
gave hope for a change for the better. But from 1973 – 1976, a
series of weak coalition governments floundered in a chain of
musical chairs.By 1976 the political mood was somber. A unified Vietnam
after the Communist victory and the killing fields in Cambodia
under the Khmer Rouge hung like a haunting specter over the
region. With the withdrawal of US forces from Asia, South
East Asian countries were living in apprehension. This was also a period of newfound freedom for the students
and intellectuals. Still heady from their moral victory (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Acoustic Crowd Control |
| |
| There are so many protests, which get out of hand and turn into riots. It starts with a meaningful crowd with a legitimate grievance or upset from misinformation from the promoters of the protests. The group of humans exercising their freedom of speech shows solidarity by coming together in a common cause. This cause could be any number of things. Sometimes it serves the civilization in airing the situation rather than sweeping dirty problems under the fiber of our United States.Typically most vocal groups are Black Americans, Anti-Capitalist and Gay Protestors, generally they start out fine, but somewhere along the way they start shouting and yelling and carrying on. | Article Title :: The Complex Simplicity of Henri Rousseau's Art |
| |
| A few basic, descriptive words can define a person’s reputation in a mere brush stroke. Naïve, childlike, primitive - words like these have lived on long after the renowned French painter Henri Rousseau has left this world. Yet time and time again they are the tidbits of vocabulary, or the glaring labels that people give to Rousseau. One has only to stare intently at his works with their bright shades, seemingly simple forms and fantasy like scenarios to see that they do have an unmistakable childlike aura about them, yet surely they show us more upon second glance. The man Picasso would one day go on to befriend after seeing one of Rousseau’s canvases being sold for reus (read full article) |

| Article Title :: The Pardoner, Sins Best Friend |
| |
| Now, good men, God forgive you your trespass,
And guard you from the sin of avarice,
May my holy pardon save you all,
So you can offer coins,
Or else brooches, spoons or rings.
Bow down your heads before this holy bull!
Come up, you wives, and offer of your wool!
Your names I’ll enter on my roll, now,
Into Heaven’s bliss you will all go..For I’ll absolve you, by my special power,
You that make offering, will be as clean and pure
As you were born.- And lo sirs, thus I preach.
And Jesus Christ, who is our souls’ physician,
So grant you each his pardon to receive;
For that is best; I will not you (read full article) |
