Article Title :: Are You a 24/7 Eco Warrior?
For those who truly care about the environment many consider themselves eco-warriors and work countless hours in their chosen cause. As a retired entrepreneur from the car wash business I always understood how important clean water is. As a runner I always realized how important clean air is. So am I an environmentalist by profession, observation or choice?Well generally I do not consider myself an environmentalist at all, although my action appear to point to that? Additionally in my retirement and the author of over 6000 online articles; I will often write on environmental issues and have been called a 24/7 Eco Warrior? Do I like this title? Well it is interesting that perception  (read full article)

Article Title :: Racial Segregation in 1969
I was at a school where racial segregation was the greatest thing since sliced bread. To them. Because the black girls had total control over our entire environment, and all the boys were in their section of the playground. The black girls were somehow in the spread out zone map of egalitarian war. I was the "journalist." I wandered the playground, interviewing every segregated group on it. There were the black girls who jumped rope like it was goin’ out of style. There were the white girls who had to bow to that Goddess of Jumping, the master of the black girls. Everybody was into it funny. I didn’t cause any of the “events” that happened there, I just entered each girl section o  (read full article)

Article Title :: A Small History of Women's Rights (in Switzerland) - For a Change
We all know Switzerland. It is a small country with no connection to the see, a fact that makes the country already special. Top of mind, thinking about Switzerland you will probably mention – watches or the banking secret. But did you know this?Below are presented some dates from countries in which they conceded women the right to vote: Soviet Union (1917), Austria (1918), Germany (1919), USA (1920), the United Kingdom (1928), Spain (1931), France (1944), Italy (1945) and Switzerland (1971) ...Apparently, while in 1971 the confederation introduced the women’s right to vote, two autonomous regions (called Cantons) were able to withhold these ri  (read full article)

Article Title :: Iran Wants Talks With the United States of America
It is rather interesting with all the promises to blow Israel off the map and the sponsoring of International Terrorism; not to mention sending Insurgents into Iraq and building nuclear weapons, as well as buying sophisticated ICBM missiles and high-tech military hardware that Iran wants to now discuss peace.Obviously such actions are not peaceful exhibits of a humble and caring nation. Now the World Media is saying that this rhetoric is just saber rattling and that both sides perceive this issue differently. Yet here we are and someone is now saying let’s talk? That is unforgivable, asking for perception-based talks now is out of the question, the time for discussion, cult  (read full article)

The building of the Panama Canal attracted Islande  (read full article)

Stanley S. McGowen, "Battle or Massacre?: The Incident on the Nueces, April 10, 1862," Southwestern Historical Quarterly, vol. CIV, no. 1 (2000), 64-86.This article examines the events that led to the confrontation between German unionists and Confederate soldiers on the banks of the Nueces River.  Article Title :: Reflections on Picasso and Masaccio
A few years ago I had the good fortune to visit Barcelona for a week and feast my eyes and heart on that city's rich visual heritage. During this time I visited the Picasso museum, which chronicles his life by displaying drawings, paintings and sculptures selected from his prolific output. It does appear true that in his youth he could draw as well as many a master before him. `Conventional' in execution, his early drawings are testament to his huge talent and skill, which he used in various ways throughout his career. As Picasso went through life, he seemed to be searching for a way to draw like a child again and produce works that had the simplicity and spontaneous magic of a chil  (read full article)
