 Article Title :: It's a small world

Has anyone seen my extra digital camera battery? I'm that desperate. I am not adapting well to this world where valuable electronics are growing smaller every year. Everything about my camera is precarious. Instead of a closet full of bulky photo albums which are difficult to lose (or in my case, stacks of photos stuffed in shoe boxes), the visual montage of my life over the last five years is sitting on a perfectly fallible hard disk on my laptop. None of the backup options work for me. I was thinking about backing up all my photos on CDs, but with CDs strewn randomly around the house and in the car, I'm worried that my irreplaceable pictures from Penang and Santo Domingo will be discar  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Laughter Really Is The Bet Medicine!

Did you know that according to research, children laugh about 400 times a day while adults only laugh about 15 times a day? Some how, as we got older we lost the ability to laugh. Could it be that putting more humour and laughter into our day will improve our health and wellbeing? In an article written by Drs. Gael Crystal and Patrick Flanagan they stated that; "Scientists have found that laughter is a form of internal jogging that exercises the body and stimulates the release of beneficial brain neurotransmitters and hormones. Positive outlook and laughter is actually good for our health! More than ever, scientific evidence suggests that laughter really is one of the best medicines."   (read full article)

 Article Title :: Chicken Rearing 101: How Not to Raise Chickens

Chick: A hatchling Capon: A castrated male used for meat. (How much could that yield?) Pullet: A female chicken under one year old. Hen: A female chicken over one year of age Rooster: A male chicken over one year of age. Raising Chickens for the first time can be intimidating. When I first called the Feed Shop, I was trying to sound like a pro. I asked, "Do you sell pullets?" "Yes", the man replied. "Are they all females?" It's been an uphill battle ever since. Pullet parenthood is an much of an adventure as child rearing, only with more feces per pound of body weight. However, I've been reading quite a bit on poultry matters. (Yes, my coolness just turned over in its gra  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Reminisce and have fun with Refrigerator Magnets

It can be confidently said that a vast majority of refrigerators here in America has at least two or more refrigerator magnets attached to them. Every single person I know has them, especially if there are kids in the household. Many special memories, achievements, notes, photos and other mementos have graced the refrigerator door and the refrigerator magnets are what keep them in place. All of them are a constant reminder o what binds the family together, special occasions that must always be remembered to symbolize the core of the family. Each piece that is brought upon on the refrigerator door represents a part of our lives. A school work, art work, scribbling by a kid is regarded as an   (read full article)

 Article Title :: Discovering Magnets and Their Many Uses

Magnets are very fascinating and interesting elements. They have been used for so many functions as well as for having fun. Toying around with magnets can provide entertainment for children and adults alike. Playing with their incredible capabilities makes one at awe; it's like magic how they cling to metal and other magnets as well. Man has been engrossed with their magnetic capabilities that they soon discovered how to synthesize these capabilities bringing forth the electromagnet. By simply coiling wires around into a loop, electric current is passed through these coils and a magnetic field is created. This can be very useful when natural magnets or permanent magnets are not available or  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Show that you care with car magnets

How many opportunities can you get to do your part to help a worthy cause and still make your car look beautiful? Many groups now have been using car magnets as a fund raiser to help finance their causes. Most of them are awareness program to educate the people about their causes. They could b anything. Some causes are for peace, asking for the return of American troops to American soil, while some are for diseases, letting the people know about the disease and at the same time gather some funds for studies about the disease. Like the wristbands, car magnets now are doing the same thing. What was just a trend now has big social impacts. These car magnets represent something beyond the de  (read full article)

 Article Title :: How to handle bad breath

We've all been there. You round the corner to your cubical ready to start the day's work when you are suddenly accosted by the familiar stench of a co-worker's bad breath. "Here we go again...", you think. "Another 'H'-filled tirade that won't ever permeate my ears because I'm too busy trying to keep it from permeating my nose." "So anywahhhhy," continues your co-worker, "Hhhhank Hhhhenshhhhaaw from Hhhhuman Reshhhhourcess told me ouhhhhhr 401k plahhhhn is an outstahhhhnding invehhhhhstment optiohhhhhn..." Somehow, we'd like to think that our forced smile and wilting eyelashes might tell the offending party that there's something less than stellar about the way they are coming across.  Article Title :: The Perks of Global Warming

Marya Mannes once wrote, "The earth we abuse and the living things we kill will, in the end, take their revenge; for in exploiting their presence we are diminishing our future." Obviously Ms. Mannes preferred the status quo - health, sanity, logic, blah, blah, blah. Why? Green House Roulette is so much more intriguing. In the country, weather affects everything. For five years my home of Western South Dakota has been gripped by drought. Water and hay are vanishing. Farms and ranches are blowing away. While the government bails out victims from Hurricanes and says, 'South Dawho?' our cattle are pissing dust mites. Fortunately, things are looking up. There is some good news! Those pesk  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Bob Cratchit was a lousy Clark

I can never watch any version of a Christmas Carol any more because I keep getting bugged by one nagging question: If that damn Bob Cratchit thinks he has it so bad with Scrooge, why the hell doesn't he get out there and get himself another job? You hear so much in the story about how miserly Scrooge is with his, but you know what? I'll bet Scrooge must have been paying a competitive wage for his clark. If Cratchit thought he should be getting more for his work, then he should have found the employer who would have paid him more and treated him better. But he didn't. And do you know why? It's because he was a slacker. Maybe Scrooge was paying less for his clarks then anyone around him -   (read full article)

 Article Title :: What if my 3rd Eyes is Myopic: Thoughts On Yoga

What If My Third Eye Is Myopic? Yoga and Me Zander Sprague Yoga and Me I've been doing yoga for quite a few years. And I really enjoy it. I ended up taking yoga the first time with a girlfriend of mine. And at first I was really scared because I'm not that flexible a person, and I thought, "How am I ever going to do that?" But of course the reality is, you don't do yoga the way you see it on TV, with people who have been doing it for 25 years and are all bendy. But actually start off slow, and do it. I've tried many different types of yoga. I find Bickram yoga to be too hot. And I like Iyengar very much. But the funny thing about yoga and me is that I'm not sure that we're ent  (read full article)
