Article Title :: Everyday is a Gift, Open and Enjoy It

There is a bottle of perfume sitting on my dresser that I was given when I was ten years old! As you can tell I have pack rat tendencies! For me that pattern started as a young child. I could never bear to throw things away. There was more to it than not wanting to throw things away. I loved the feeling I had when I would receive something new, and would not want to spoil it by using it unless it was for something special. I would want to save it for a special occasion. A new dress would sit in the closet, until a special event to wear it. Perfume would sit on my dresser, not to be used for everyday, but for a special ‘something’. This was a pattern in my life for many years.P  (read full article)

Article Title :: He Who Laughs...Lasts---Where Has All The Laughter Gone?

I love to watch people at airports, malls and even at our church. I wonder, what got them here? What attracted those two people to be together at this time? What makes that one tick or that one over there work so hard? And sadly, I wonder where has all the laughter gone?Studies show that children laugh approximately 400 times per day while adults laugh as little as 15 times a day. Studies also show that laughter helps lower blood pressure, strengthens immune systems, and helps lower stress hormones. There are no known studies of negative side effects to laughter. No wonder we have a health crisis on our hands. But, my question is, "What does it do to the Spirit?"I may be wro  (read full article)

Article Title :: Tim McGraw had it Right - Live Like You Are Dying!

Chorus: An' he said: "I went ski diving, I went rocky mountain climbing, "I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu" "And I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter, "And I gave forgiveness I'd been denying." An he said: "Some day, I hope you get the chance, "To live like you were dyin'."One of the latest songs by Tim McGraw talks about a man in his forties with cancer. Who began to live his life has if he had only days to live. And all he hope for others was, "Someday, I hope you get the chance, to live like you were dying." Are you? Are you living a life like you are dying? I don't mean in the physical sense, how about the spiritual realm. The bible talks about dying to   (read full article)

Article Title :: My name is Smarty Jones -- Embracing God's Glory

Our deepest fear us not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us…..We are born to manifest the glory of God that is within us….And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.Nelson MandelaToday more than ever we live in times of public murder via internet and the awareness of the dirty little secrets of wartime interrogation. Yet, this weekend we as a country got a breathe of fresh air by watching a little horse letting go of his inadequacy's and race around a dirt track looking for his one shot at Glory. If a nation is so hun  (read full article)

Article Title :: Play It Forward --Living A Life You've Always Wanted!

What would your life be like if you lived each event backwards? If you knew what was coming in your life next how would you react?John Eldredge writes in his book Waking the Dead, "God what do you have for my heart today?" He continues by saying, "you may be stunned by what he guides you into. I began the day at six in the morning asking God, "What do you have for my heart today Lord." I had a few minutes to spare this morning (very unusual) so I had a cup of coffee at Starbucks. During that time a brain storm came to me and I wrote feverously for thirty minutes, jumped in the car and decided to take a tour of the new Wal-Mart food store in St. Matthews as I headed back to work.  Article Title :: Purpose filled Live's --The Big Picture!

"Can't see the forest because of the trees," heard it all my life, didn't really understand it until I jumped out of a plane though.Last week I told you I went ski diving. Once the parachute opened I allowed myself to enjoy the ride. One thing I noticed was how thick the forest was below, how green the trees were and what things seemed close were in reality miles away. However, on the ground you wouldn't be able to see fifty feet in front of you because of all the limbs and bushes. And with that I realized how short sighted I had become, not only my vision, but also in my thinking. This tree, that tree, watch out for that poison oak, oh look out for that hole. After a while, where   (read full article)

Article Title :: Remember The Titans --Let Them Never Forget...

In the popular movie, "Remember the Titans" most of us most likely can recall our favorite scene. Do you remember this one?The first challenge of the coach was to get the community to break up the racial divide and pull together. So the head coach (played by Densel Washington) decides to take his players away to camp. Even with the change of environment racial barriers still stood tall and tension were high. After the first few days the coach noticed the communication between the black and white players had not improved in the least, matter of fact it was getting worse. The players were not executing their plays, mistakes were made purposely in order to make others look bad and as  (read full article)

Article Title :: Overcoming Fear of Terrorism

This week I did a radical thing. I bought a newspaper.I bought it to read about the events happening in London. I lived there for many years and have friends I love there. It has a very special place in my heart. We now live in a world where small numbers of people can cause havoc and create fear within the hearts of so many. This is now particularly true of people living in major cities of the world. Individually, we might wonder what the world is coming to. Individually, we may think that there is little or nothing we can do.There are those in the world who will tell you that the present situation is a prelude to Armageddon. These are those who are caught in t  (read full article)

Article Title :: Resistance to Change

All of us are resistant to change, whether it's in using a different tool, a technique a choice in partners, or lifestyle. The ones that resist the most have big labels like, orthodox, traditionalist, extremist. They are the defenders of the faith, of the known, and of the accepted. Some of the rest of us are followers, disciples, and supporters; we are the middleman, the ones that support the orthodox, the traditionalist and the extremist because after all without us what would these people be defending. We are the ones the cast the deciding vote for this group and the next group which are the leaders, the explorers and the visionaries. All of these people are grouped t  (read full article)

Article Title :: Flaming Fire Within Our Bones

Jeremiah was certainly one of the most distinguished notables of the Old Testament. To read his messages and experiences is to become acquainted with a great servant of God. I believe he revealed more of his inner feelings and personal reactions toward God and man, than did any other prophet or prophetess in Old Testament times. He was a young man of approximately 21 years of age when he accepted his divine calling to minister to the nations. But Jeremiah lived in very bad times, times not too unlike our own. On the political front there was a great power struggle going on between the super structures. Assyria had occupied the leadership for some three centuries but now, she was wea  (read full article)
