What Did We Learn From The Great Search Engine Experiment! by: Mike Makler Last Week I did a Search Engine Experiment. I wanted to see if I could brand myself as the coolest guy in the universe. I created a web page that said Mike Makler is the coolest Guy in the Universe. In that Web Page I repeated that Phrase over and over. In less then 24 Hours I was Number 1 in Yahoo for the Phrase coolest Guy in the Universe in Double Quotes. A Few hours later I was no where to be found in Yahoo. So I then created a few more web pages did a few more blog entries and not only was I back to #1 in Yahoo But I had the top 3 Spots and the 5th Spot in Yahoo as Well.  Article Title :: Google, BackRub, Backlinking, and The Link Hunting
Google, BackRub, Backlinking, and The Link Hunting Obsession That Takes Its Toll by: Sergios Charntikov Google is currently one of the dominant entities on the net period. The question is - is it really that omnipotent, is it really that advantageous. The question is – IS IT REALLY “ALL THAT”. To understand role of Google in the modern net society we need to go deep into its roots. Google was born at hands of Larry Page (rich boy) and perfected by Sergey Brin (russian rich boy) at Stanford University. The idea was to rank internet pages based on number of other pages linking back. For Brin it was sort of academic approach to web page ranking where web page would model for a  (read full article)

Article Title :: Do Not Ever Link to a Site Without Doing This Firs
Do Not Ever Link to a Site Without Doing This First! by: John Krycek Links are a crucial part of attaining high search rankings, but you must be very careful about to whom you link. I'm going to help you develop a simple link strategy for your website that will help you decide which sites to link to so you're making your way up the search engine rankings and not accidentally hurling yourself backwards. So the natural questions are: Should I link to everyone I can find? Should I allow everyone to link to me? Should I get one of those "link to 2,000 site for $10" things? The answer to all of the above is NO! Develop A Link Strategy We're going to do an easy-to-digest version of   (read full article)

Article Title :: Do You Need Links to Your Site?
Do You Need Links to Your Site? by: Max Ledbetter I realize that in an ongoing attempt to rationalize self-interest and self-image (in other words, they want to pull the wool over our eyes), a motley crew of so-so consultants are constantly trying to create a few convergent global Internet policies composed of extraneous and ad hoc rules backed up by little more than rumor and thin air. Therefore, in comic defiance, I am listing a few automated link exchanges. It's fun, and irrespective of what the would-be experts say out there in waste-your-time-land, the automatic exchanges do bring you traffic and sometimes a sale or two. When your page rank is zero, what do you have to lose? F  (read full article)

Vehicle Maintenance VS Computer Maintenance for the Average User by: Marc Ready Has your computer slowed down? Does it take forever for a file to open. Do you think your computer is about to crash? Take heart it probably just needs a little soft maintenance. What is soft maintenance? Think about your vehicle for a moment. Hasn't it gotten sluggish? Won't accelerate like it used to? Is using more fuel than normal? I am not sure I have even met anyone who has not experienced this. What is the most common cure for the vehicle? A tune-up right? The same goes for the computer. Hardware failures are usually pretty obvious. There is an odd noise, a total system break down, blank screen and   (read full article)

Article Title :: Toner Cartridges - How They Work
Toner Cartridges - How They Work by: Martin Smith In the past computers and their accompanying printers were huge. Toner reservoirs and toner cartridges were used instead of ink cartridges like the ones in use today. Toner cartridges were difficult and messy to fill. The toner cartridges were an advancement. Some printers ran on print wheels and some used ribbons. Computers are compact and printers now do more than just print on some cases. Cartridges with self-contained reservoirs are used in printers. Refilling some cartridges is possible and it isn't as messy as adding toner was. Two types of printers cartridges now exist. Hewlett-Packard and Epson printers primarily, used the firs  (read full article)

Article Title :: PowerPoint to DVD Creator
PowerPoint to DVD Creator by: Lisa Janice Microsoft PowerPoint has dramatically changed the way in which academic and business presentations are made. Suppose you need to create PowerPoint DVDs, aside from being very popular, the most common reasons that users want to burn PowerPoint slides to DVD are usability, portability, and storage. Since DVD is fast becoming the preferred video format for all kinds of consumer applications, as well as computer peripherals, saving ppts to DVD makes good sense for storing and sharing them with others. PC-created DVDs can be shown on other PCs that support DVD or on consumer DVD players. (and, of course, create some for your own archiving and enjoym  (read full article)
