| Article Title :: Management Coaching vs. Performance Appraisals |
| |
|
The question often comes up, “Isn’t management coaching a lot
like the familiar performance appraisal process?” Our answer is
that the two are dramatically different. The CMOE team
originally became interested in the coaching process because of
our experiences with the deficiencies of performance appraisal.
We were asked to devise a customized performance appraisal
system, along with a training program, for a Fortune 500
corporation. After working through the resistance that naturally
accompanies adoption of a massive program such as this, we
noticed one consistent piece of feedback coming from managers at
all levels. That message was, “Give us some help, ideas, and
training on how (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Seven Reasons Why Your Company Needs An E-Mail Policy |
| |
|
Everyone at the office thought that using the company e-mail
system to share jokes and funny stories was great fun. That is,
until one offended employee decided to sue his employer for
having helped to create a hostile work environment.
Employee access to E-mail and the Internet can help to
streamline communication among employees, and between employees
and customers. But, just like conversations or information
communicated on paper, E-mail messages have the power to create
significant liability issues for employers who fail to
adequately supervise how the medium is being used.
Here are just a few of the risks that unregulated access to
E-mail and the Internet can create:

are a lot of time management techniques to control your day to

| Article Title :: On Line Stock Trading ... How do short term momentum traders
profit when stocks go up or down ? |
| |
|
Success in short term stock trading like with any other business
in life comes from being able to see the big picture and from
paying attention to the small details.
Let's say for example that you are a business owner and you have
a jewelry store on a given street just like the guy in the other
corner does, but still the other guy is making 5 times more
profits than you are only because he's doing something
different. He knows something that you still don't and that's
what makes him more profitable.
The funny thing about this kind of situation is that you could
be just a small distance away from being as successful as he is.
We know that day trading stocks with momentum is not the only (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Working With The Generations |
| |
|
For the first time in history, there are four generations in the
work force. Although this is an exciting time, it is not without
challenges. Working with the generations requires patience and
understanding. Each generation brings a new perspective, but we
need to learn to value the new ideas, and embrace the change
that each new generation brings.
Ten years ago, when I started teaching classes at the local
university, I was typically ten years younger than the majority
of the students. Now, I am at least ten years older than the
majority of the students - and many of my students are in their
early to mid-twenties. This diversity in the generations is not
without challenge. I cannot expect (read full article) |

Procrastination can work for you as well as against you.
Identifying which category each procrastination item fits into
lessons overwhelm and assists in getting things done in a timely
manner. By letting go of a lot of negative self-talk we can use
the energy we save for more productive uses.
Step 1 Consider the cause & characteristics
The first step is to consider the knowledge around what
procrastination actually is and what causes it. Please remember
that although there may be many 'causes', the procrastinator is
always the one choosing the specific cause or reason for

| Article Title :: Introduction to Project Management for entrepreneurs |
| |
|
One of the greatest benefits of projects in an organisational
context is their ability and effectiveness in the achievement of
goals. The success or failure of projects is largely related to
the way that managers develop tactics or plans for the projects
and how these plans can be effectively monitored and controlled
through the various stages of the project lifecycle. It is a
basic premise that the successful implementation of a project
requires the development of a set of action plans together with
subsequent tactics by the project manager. The planning stage of
the project will define issues such as the project goal, targets
and other milestones, as well as the establishment of a

| Article Title :: It's not the age, it's the energy! |
| |
|
Thinking about successful people and success I came to the
conclusion ‘it’s not the age, it’s the energy’.
After years of ‘ageism’ it seems as if the corporates are at
long last realising that older employee may still have something
to offer. It just amazes me they have to think about it. Surely
if some one has the necessary enthusiasm and dynamism, it
doesn’t matter how old they are.
In fact, if they are older, they can combine their energy with
the accumulated experience and wisdom only available to those of
us of ‘advanced years’!
My belief is that if you love what you do and it’s in a
worthwhile reputable area, you will put in the necessary hard
work to ensure y (read full article) |

Mark Twain once said, “You have to take your brain out and dance
on it.” In other words, you need to give your mind some downtime
tonight, if you want to have a more productive tomorrow. With
that said are you a person who spends weekends and evenings
worrying about business? Do you think about meetings, emails,
and office politics? If so, it’s time to learn how to use your
free-time more productively. Not only is your time away from the
concerns of the workplace necessary, but a rested mind is more
efficient and productive.
Dr. Barbara Mackoff describes a number of techniques to help you
leave work at the workplace in her book, “The Art of

| Article Title :: Leadership Skills: Four Ways of Overcoming Perfectionism |
| |
|
The High Price of Perfectionism
We pay a high price for perfectionism. “What perfectionism?” we
perfectionists mutter. “We’ve known for years perfectionism is
not healthy so we have dealt with this issue and strive for
personal excellence only!” Really?
When you slip-up - maybe handle a situation, task or project
less than perfectly – what do you say to yourself? Are you able
to commend yourself on what you did well and perhaps then, note
a thing or two you could improve upon? Or do you focus on the
mistake or less-than-perfect behavior neglecting your positive
efforts?
Recently I completed facilitating six evening “Leadership”
sessions. Being only my second tim (read full article) |
