Article Title :: Some People Should Not Be Riding Motorcycles

I will admit when I first hopped on a friends 125 cc dirt bike when I was a kid, I thought I knew what I was doing. Wrong! Guess what was my first lesson in riding a motorcycle? "How do I turn this thing at speed?" Well being the dumbass I was at the time, I did not make the turn and hit a wood fence, dropping the bike and breaking my friends gear shifter off. Well, I should not have ridden the bike in the first place, but what did I know. I did learn from my mistake. This is a very good example of why the Motorcycle Safety Foundation courses are an invaluable experince for new and wannabe motorcycle riders. When I was going through the MSF's Rider Coach Instructor Course, I witnessed alo (read full article)

Article Title :: Maximum Motorcycle Braking and Swerving

The majority of motorcycle braking systems have a right-front lever for activating the front brake and a right foot pedal for activating the rear brake. There exist some variations on the basic motorcycle brake systems. Some of these innovations may affect how you handle low-speed manuevers.1. Integrated brakes: Application of the rear brake will cause some application of the front brake.2. Linked brakes: Application of either the rear or front brake will cause some pressure to be applied to the opposite brake.3. Anti-lock brakes: Popular in BMW and the Yamaha FJR bikes. These are designed to minimize skidding in the event of a maximum-braking straight-line stop. (read full article)

Article Title :: The Concept of the EFI on the Victory Freedom Engine

| When I bought my Victory Kingpin motorcycle I knew it had fuel injection instead of an air/fuel carburetor. Then I saw the EFI emblem on the side covers. Ok. what exactly is that? So I looked it up. EFI stands for Electronic Fuel Injection. Much like you get with most cars. But is that really better? I read on and found that the EFI system that Victory's Freedom V-Twin engine uses provides for a modern, powerful, reliable, and sure-starting system. The EFI is used instead of a carberator because the EFI delivers the correct fuel and air mixture at all times and will adjust itself automatically, via its sensors, to the changing conditions that the Freedom engine will face during operation. | Article Title :: The Art of Motorcycle Obstacle Avoidence |

We all assume a certain level of risk when we ride our motorcycles. Our main concern is usually the 4000 pound SUV crossing in-front of us at an intersection. The driver oblivious to our existence as they chat on their cell phone. That being said, another risk motorcyclists encounter is the Road Hazard. By road hazard I mean, obstacles such as, speed bumps, potholes, debris. Debris such as gravel, solid objects that have fallen off the construction truck in front of you. If that was not enough, consider road kill, now add in a freaked out deer or a kamakazi squirrel or rabbit. It makes you wonder why we ride at all. But that is another topic I will address relating to the start of it all (read full article)

Article Title :: Installing a Victory Motorcycle Jackpot Headlight

| With one of the warmest winters on record, the little Groundhog from Pennsyvania decided that he would see his shadow and call for 6 more weeks of winter. We all laughed at the little furry rodent. Especially with 60 degree motorcycle riding weather in the middle of February. Fast forward a few weeks and the east coast gets hit with a Nor-Easter storm. | Article Title :: Motorcycle Belt Tension Inspection, Belt and Wheel Alignment |

I strongly believe that knowledge is power. Especially when it comes to motorcycle maintenance. Why go to the stress and expense of having your local motorcycle shop perform your maintenance and upgrades when you can learn to do it yourself. And you know that if you do your own maintenance, that you will give the extra attention required to do a competant job. I doubt you can say the same for the underpaid and over-worked motorcycle service mechanic. The other benefit of doing your own motorcycle maintenance is that you learn more about your bike. This has many benefits. You will be able to tell when something is not running right. Also, you will have the skill set to get yourself out of (read full article)
