Article Title :: Music Is The Language Of Freedom

Great music like great works of art will last forever. Great music satisfies the artist as much as the audience. Great music is in the ear of the creator as much as the hearer. Why is it then that some great artists become wealthy some do not? Why do some great artists have regular jobs and careers that have little or nothing to do with music? Is it perhaps that music has very little to do business and much more to do with art? If you're an educator or a student of the arts, you might consider this comment trivial. There's a community of artists and patrons of the arts the world over who know the music industry has very little to do with music and much more to do with culture and political  (read full article)

Article Title :: Let the Music Take you there

Even when you don't know where you're going and what you plan to do with your music when you get there, you have to start somewhere. Trading places with a superstar isn't going to happen. Getting a "hit" record is about as likely as winning the lottery. In the work-a-day world, no one starts at the top. Why would music be any different? More often than not, we begin at the bottom. The music industry has always had an unspoken development hierarchy. There has always been a night club circuit. High schools and colleges have always been a stepping stone to larger venues for emerging artist. Major concert producers control entire geographic territories and high profile venues. If you're lucky   (read full article)

Article Title :: Creativity Makes People Unfomfortable

There's a lot to be said for new beginnings. I love new beginnings. One might say I live for new beginnings. There are always new friends to meet, new places to discover, new projects to develop. It's the challenge of mystery, the exciting promise of a new adventure that draws me into the future. It's hard to imagine why some people live their lives in a straight jacket, afraid to move. At the very least, they conform to a self imposed stereotype. Too afraid to express themselves; reluctant to change, to try anything different, they expect others to do the same. Dennis Walsh progressofmusic@hotmail.com Like racing down a turnpike with too many signs and far too many choices, we stream thr  (read full article)

Article Title :: Aliza "LSA" Grant Releases Bits And Pieces CD

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Aliza "LSA" Grant Releases Bits And Pieces CD Sacramento, CA--January 23, 2005--Aliza Grant, AKA LSA, which means Life's Sole Apprentice, has always loved music and she has taken every opportunity to create it. Aliza's new CD Bits And Pieces is a multihued and exciting collection of electronica and trip hop. Initial ideas of producing drum and bass and the simple effect of speeding up the tempo came by accident and fate took that process full circle to a recording that clearly defines one of the most popular genres of music worldwide. LSA commented-"I named it Bits and Pieces because all the tracks are snapshots of a lot of things I pie  (read full article)

Article Title :: The Hustle Heads Take Hip-Hop Back To The Future With CD Duky Dope Demo

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Hustle Heads Take Hip-Hop Back To The Future With CD Duky Dope Demo Rochester, NY--January 23, 2006--The Hustle Heads were conceived in 1993 in the back seat of a Mazda 626, which does not get any more grass roots and natural than that. In a world of media overkill and everyone trying to be something they are not, the Hustle Heads prefer to push their music to new heights and reach back to their roots to formulate the kind of hip-hop that sets clubs on fire and gives the streets the rhythm and soul that it so desperately yearns. The new CD Duky Dope DEMO is the result of endless gigging and countless hours to deliver what they term as Brown  (read full article)

Article Title :: Apple 4 GB iPod Nano Black

This is a smaller, more affordable version of the original ipod... And it's black. The very popular ipod comes with features such as the touch pad adjusting. I think this is nice compared to the conventional buttons. Being about as tall and thin as a pencil this is a very small mp3 player. But dont be fooled by the size. It can hold up to about 1000 songs and has a 14 hour battery life. Very good for someone that wants to listen to a lot of music and have it be as convenient as possible. This ipod runs for about $250. Only unfortunate thing about it is that it doesn't play movies. If that is what you are looking for then maybe the Apple 30 GB iPod with Video Playback Black would be a better  (read full article)

Article Title :: Cheap Electric Guitars

If you are looking for cheap electric guitars there is a lot of choice out there. You can buy a cheap electric guitar from as little as £70 and there are a number of brands making cheap guitars. Don't spend under £90 on a guitar If you are buying your first electric guitar, I wouldn't recommend spending under £90. Most of these guitars are built with very cheap materials to bring the production costs down, hence the retail price. The guitar's sound will be compromised with this lower quality and the finish will also look a bit rough. You will usually find that the guitar strings are the cheapest ones you can buy, they will sound twangy. The other downside of these cheap electr  (read full article)

Article Title :: Why Using Noise Reduction Headphones With an MP3 Player Is Better Than Earbuds

MP3 players and portable CD players usually come with the standard "earbud" headphones. Earbuds fit into the ear like a hearing aid and are lightweight and portable. Their advantages, however, stop there. When it comes to the quality of the music you are listening to, that quality can be greatly diminished due to the inability of earbud headphones to filter out the noises that you are not interested in listening to; such as the voices, car engines, train noises, and barking dogs that may be all around you when you are out in public. One of the great advantages of MP3 players, such as iPods, and portable CD players is that you can take them with you wherever you go. Sometimes the very reaso  (read full article)

Article Title :: Music History - Hip Hop, Rap, R&B

History of Hip Hop & Rap In the early 1970s, the cultural movement of hip hop music was born. Hip hop's fast paced music style is made of two parts; the rhythmic delivery of rap and the use of instrumentation by a DJ. Hip hop music also brought with it a fashion of its own, the fashion helped to represent this newly created music. Hip hop music has its roots from West African music and African-American music. The first rap song to be put onto a vinyl record was, "Rapper's Delight", a song by the Sugarhill Gang back in the 1970s. This is when block parties started becoming the norm in New York City, which gave hip hop and rap the chance to explode in popularity. Hip hop's instrumentation ca  (read full article)
