 Article Title :: Metallica Forums

Metallica is perhaps one of the best known metal bands around. In May of 1951, Lars and James made their first introductions. This meeting was shortly followed by the formation of Metallica just five months later. On April 23rd of 1982 Metallica appeared as a 5 piece band with Brad Parker on the guitar. After that, Metallica really began to take off. The man who needs no introduction, Cliff Burton (or just incase you've been living on another planet, probably the best bassist ever!) then had his first rehearsal with Metallica in 1982. At this point Metallica really began to develop as a band and their popularity sky rocketed. In 1983 their growing popularity encouraged their decision   (read full article)

 Article Title :: Five Fingers Same Position Notes Reading Method

There are beginner piano books begin by introducing five notes i.e. CDEFG in right hand (RH) and CBAGF in left (LH) by using the same fingers position such as on RH note C played by thumb, D played by index finger, etc. On LH note C played by thumb, B played by index finger, so on. I called as "five fingers same position". The benefit is before added the new note, beginners have practiced some similar exercises so they, especially kids will not confused by rhythm, names and positions of notes. Because of many exercises that using the same fingers position, mostly kids tend to read the fingers numbers as notes positions. For instance, they mean no. 1 on RH is C - always played by thu  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Darrel Andrews Releases New Album Spider Soul

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Darrel Andrews Releases New Album Spider Soul Shreveport, LA --November 14, 2005-- Darrel Andrews began his lifelong musical journey in Louisiana playing the Trumpet. When Andrews was in school music was not a part of the curriculum and there was no band room so he often found himself outside with other band members practicing under an oak tree. That kind of determination and perseverance would pay dividends in the years to come. During the 70's, the late great Ray Charles sponsored a recording session of seven of Andrews' tunes, and two tunes were recorded by Bobby "Blue" Bland. There would be many more defining moments in the career of Darrel Andrews and fa  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Things to look for when buying a studio microphone

Studio microphones need to accomplish one thing and one thing only: to record the best possible voice or musical instrument sounds. In order to do that, they use advanced technological methods to filter out unwanted ambient sound, which are present even in a controlled studio environment. Studio microphones have to capture the smallest voice subtleties and even the lowest musical notes. Most studio microphones use the electret model, in which a thin metal diaphragm receives sound waves and converts them into electrical current, which can then be interpreted by various recording devices. The filters used in the manufacturing of professional studio microphones are well calibrated, so that any  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Be A Prepared Church Pianist

Playing in front of a congregation each Sunday is no easy feat. Make sure you are well prepared before giving your best for God and before others. 1) Practice the piano and more preferably the songs you will be playing early in the week and often. 2) Sing while you play so you can have a feel for how well your playing will mesh with the singing. 3) If you use sheet music make sure it is organized and ready to go. Write up your introductions and endings or make sure the ones you have used before are the ones you will want to use this time. 4) If you are accompanying a soloist make sure you set aside good time to practice. 5) If you are still working on your craft then make sure you are  (read full article)

 Article Title :: What is a church musician

What is a church musician? After being in this position for several years I have come to my own conclusions as to what this title means and is all about. First let me say that I think a lot of church musicians make the mistake of using this as a means satisfy their own needs. A need to be up front, to perform, to show off their musical talent etc. But being a Christian is all about sacrificing self. This does not have to be a negative thing and in fact can be quite rewarding. Let's look at some scripture about this. In the Bible we are commanded to "Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise." Psalm 33:3 KJV. In first Samuel we see what a musician can do for a man tormente  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Band Web Sites

Every band should have its own web site! There are very inexpensive ways to build them. In fact, some are totally free!! In my opinion, the best solution is the $0 hosting plan from Doteasy.com! They charge $25/year to renew your domain name and $0/year for basic hosting. This means that for the total cost of $25/year, you can have a stand-alone web site with your own URL. You get 100 MB of storage space, 1 GB of bandwidth each month, and 10 Email addresses using your chosen URL. This package will NOT handle PHP, MSQL, and other more sophisticated functions, but for a basic web site, you can't beat the price! Doteasy.com is the company that we use for all of our websites. Don't want to sp  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Paul Thomas Yoder Releases Jazz Album Dreamin'

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Los Angeles, CA--November 9, 2005--Paul Thomas Yoder has a passion for music, and like many of us must separate that from his daily life in order to make a living. Like all artists, he would like nothing more than to record and play to support himself. Dreamin' about making that happen only comes natural. Being an indie artist is tough, but guys like Yoder have what it takes to move their career to the next level - talent. Yoder plays an inspired trumpet, flugelhorn, and brings on the vocals with passion and purpose on his new release Dreamin'. From Herb Alpert inspired tracks like "Sadeness" to rockers like "True Faith," he goes from one  (read full article)

 Article Title :: For Mods Only - Playlist

I recently started watching the Pink Panther movie series ever since I purchased the whole set on DVD. I figured I was really into that whole swinging sixties sound popularized by Henry Mancini as he was responsible for composing the Pink Panther films as well as many others. I thought the best way to see more of it was to watch some of Blake Edwards best films including the original Pink Panther and The Party which is one of my favorites. After watching the films I figured I'd make a playlist to listen to once in a while when I want to hear that sound of a fun bygone era. I start out the playlist with It Had Better Be Tonight the vocal version from the Pink Panther Soundtrack. I just lov  (read full article)
