Article Title :: MP3/Music Downloading Guide

Downloading music off the internet can be a tedious and usually boring task. This article will show you how to find online music faster and more precisely then ever before. There are a few different ways of obtaining music over the net, however each one has its own set of pro's and con's. 1) The first way is to download music off a basic web server or website. Not only is this highly illegal, but it puts your computer at risk to any number of ActiveX exploits, porn pop-ups, and forced installs. This of course is necessary to insure that the webmaster of the illegal site gains a profit, off the expense of his surfers. 2) The second highly popular way to download music is through a peer-t  (read full article)

Article Title :: Professional Mixing For Your Recording

There is something about a professional recording engineer grabbing the faders of his console and going to work that just seams to blow away what the average home recording guy can do. Why can't you get the same sound in the your home studio mixes? Let's see why. I get emails from bands all the time who attempted to record their band on a Roland recorder. Sometimes the sound quality of their home tracking isn't all that bad. Some bands need to take more time to get the performances they are looking for. If each member of the band sounds good, the tracking should go pretty smoothly. This is why I always recommend that a professional mixes any project that means anything to the artist. Mixin  (read full article)

Article Title :: How To Choose Your First Microphone For Your Recording Studio

When it comes to home recording gear, it seams the market is flooded with thousands of choices. There are so many companies out there and so much hype. It's hard to believe anything you read. I've wrote this article to get your started with choosing microphones. I have no advertisers to keep happy. So you have decided to buy a studio microphone? The first notion I'd like to shoot down is the "studio microphone myth". There is no such thing as a studio microphone. A microphone will pickup sound anywhere you put it. It doesn't have to be a recording studio. It can be a kitchen. Granted, some mics are less durable than others and these mics tend to be used more in the studio than on stage sim  (read full article)

Article Title :: Turning a Band Into Songwriters - 10 Songs In One Hour

While most bands have good or even very good drummers, guitar players, and bassists (notice I didn't say singers), most bands don't have good songwriters. In fact, songwriting is usually an afterthought with most bands. That's why I came up with the 10 songs in one hour challenge. That's right, if you did the math, you quickly figured out that the band must write a song every 6 minutes to stay on target and THEY MUST STAY ON TARGET. That's the challenge. You must enforce that they have to get 10 songs done in one hour. Here's how I do it: I divide the band in groups of two. If they are a three piece, I'll jump in and play along. Each group gets a guitar, a small amp, and small PA system.  (read full article)

Article Title :: Everything But The Girl Release An Excellent CD Of Remixes With Adapt Or Die: Ten Years Of Remixes

Remix albums are a hot thing now and Everything But The Girl were definitely in line to release their own remixes perfectly compiled on an album. I have to admit I am always first in line to purchase any remix album that comes out and this release is definitely worth it the purchase. It contains some awesome remixes and Everything But The Girl are definitely one of the artists from the 90's that wont be forgotten. This being mostly for their massive remixed club hit of Missing off of the Amplified Heart album. The remix that became a top ten hit was remixed by Todd Terry. That remix is not on this Adapt Or Die: Ten Years Of Remixes but they have a rare unreleased remix by CL McSpadden. The   (read full article)

Article Title :: Ringtone Options Expanded for Verizon Customers

Ringtone Options Expanded for Verizon Customers By Bob Bentz Philadelphia - Like the Berlin Wall did over twenty years ago, Verizon's cellular walled garden may be crashing down. In the USA, as opposed to Europe and Asia, the mobile content and ringtone market has mirrored the early days of the internet. Remember when AOL tried to put up its own walled garden to keep consumers within its product? It soon became obvious to AOL that there was a world of information out there on the internet and consumers demanded access to it. For several years, Verizon customers have been limited in the types of ringtones, cell phone wallpapers, and other mobile data content that they were permitted t  (read full article)

Article Title :: A Clouded Vision

To do or not to do? In one of Shakespeare's most popular bloodbaths, the lead character Hamlet's tragic flaw was that he could not make a decision and act upon it. Okay, the decision in question revolved around whether he should murder his mother and uncle in retaliation for his father's untimely death -- a real pickle, no doubt. But Hamlet's inability to resolve his quandary in an expedient manner culminated in the deaths of everyone around him and placed him on the wrong end of a poisoned sword. Most of us can relate to Hamlet's tendency to procrastinate when we're faced with a decision. We weigh the pros and cons, we analyze the costs versus the benefits, we visualize all possible outco  (read full article)

Article Title :: The Local Coffee Shop

Many musicians complain about the lack of gigs they have, but when I ask them to look closely at the type of venue they are searching, the repeated pattern seems to be clubs, stadiums, concert halls and pubs. What I would like to share with you is this... keep a look out and be totally aware of the possible gig locations so that you're not limiting yourself. How about restaurants, parks, malls or my favourite, the local coffee shops? Coffee shops are the next link in the chain of great gigs. Depending on the venue, you can drop in several times and build links with staff and get a feel for the type of customers that come there. Make it your second residence! Depending on the type of music  (read full article)

Article Title :: Go Bananas with your music!

Yes, it really is possible to go bananas with your music! Take my word for it, because I've helped many musicians do so in the past and here's your chance to do it too. One of the most important ways to sky rocket your sales, increase your fan base and music career is to start your online newsletter that keeps people updated about what's going on in the life of an artist, which is you. I'm quite pleased to say that the online newsletters are one of the most important mediums through which you can keep in touch with everyone, and of course, it's the cheapest and cost-effective way of doing so.  Article Title :: Is fear keeping you small?

I've worked with a few clients this August as most are on holiday, but one concept which I feel keeps showing up is that of fear. Fear is our way of slowing down the progress we're making and sometimes this can be a good thing. Certainly, a healthy amount of fear can keep us safer, more secure, and can keep us from taking rash action. However, there are times when fear also acts to keep us small to keep us from stepping fully into our own greatness and truly owning our life and the success we create in it. What are some cues that fear is keeping you small? First, you have a persistent dream that you never seem to quite reach. You keep coming close but never quite get there. You feel frust  (read full article)
