 Article Title :: Can These Veggies Save Your Life?
Would you like to live a long time? Most of us would.Would you like to be healthy and disease free? That’s a pretty easy question, since the alternative is being sick and miserable.So how do you go about it? One simple way to be leaner, healthier, and full of energy is to do what grandma told you—eat your veggies.Why? Because vegetables are full of chemicals that your body uses to fight disease and stay healthy. These are things that you can’t get anywhere else.Plants are made up of chemicals. Some of the chemicals help the plants fight off viruses, bacteria and pests. It turns out that these same chemicals help our own bodies in countless ways.The  (read full article)

 Article Title :: In Search of Optimal Cardiovascular Health
Inflammation is your body’s natural response and is how a healthy immune system reacts to stresses to your body from injuries, irritation, chemicals, free radicals, stress and many other factors. New studies help confirm emerging evidence that low-grade inflammation is a factor in the development of heart disease and diabetes.Blood levels of C-reactive protein (CRP)--a blood protein released by the body in response to infection and injury--increase in heart disease, according to a study of 643 women published in the Annals of Internal Medicine. The authors found that higher levels of CRP were present in women who developed coronary heart disease than in those who developed cancer  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Mediterranean Diet
The Mediterranean diet concept is that of a healthy diet consisting of vegetables, fruit, cereals, legumes and nuts that are low in saturated fats. It also includes low consumption of dairy products, seafood, poultry, red meat and small to moderate quantities of wine. The Mediterranean diet is one of the most studied dietary patterns.It has been noticed that people in the Mediterranean region, an area of three continents, differ in their culture, tradition and food habit, but lead very similar active lifestyles and share similar eating habits. It was observed that cases of chronic heart diseases, diabetes, gallstones and cancers were minimal in the Mediterranean region.The d  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Mediterranean Diet Benefits
Mediterranean diet is best recognized as a guide to good health. The diet does not introduce a new diet program that makes one to cut on various food products. Instead, it encourages "wise" choices of food that hold the key to a balanced diet. The people who practice a Mediterranean diet consume vegetables, fruit, cereals, nuts, potatoes and bread in large quantities with small to moderate amounts of yogurt, milk, cheese and wine on a daily basis. Most of the food products are not processed so as to retain their nutritional value. They prefer to have fresh mushrooms in place of tinned and canned products even though those products are easy to eat, cook and serve.The diet suggests t  (read full article)

 Article Title :: FTC Complains of Health Food Claims
The Federal Trade Commission complains that many groups make false claims or rather unsubstantiated claims about certain health foods, which may not do much of anything. Actually in looking at the total picture this is rather hilarious in that the Federal Trade Commission has never once been able to prove that it has actually reduced fraud.In fact I have never seen one scientific research paper proving that the FTC actually helps consumers, not one, from any reputable University research department. I have never seen any empirical proof they crime, fraud or misrepresentation has been reduced by the FTC. This is not to say that their claims are not real when they state they are help  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Answering the Critics
Exerts from communications from Chet.Chuck, if you're eating any animal products at all, you're not following the Genesis 1:29, the Hallelujah Diet, or the Sheltonian Natural Hygiene diet.I think a good, clean, predominantly plant-based diet is great, but human beings also have to have some foods from the animal kingdom for long-term health.I take it your version of the Hallelujah/Hygiene diet includes some animal foods like organic eggs? If that's the case, good.... you're teaching truth.Although I know a lot of people who claim to be strictly following the Hallelujah Diet or Sheltonian Natural Hygiene diet, I also know that if they are pressed to tell the who  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Nutrition Tips: How to Make Building Muscle and Losing Fat Easier
I get a lot of comments and questions regarding nutrition. Most of them have to do with time. In other words, people feel they are too busy to eat 5 or 6 nutritious meals a day, whether their goal is to burn fat or build muscle.Another time factor is the preparation of these meals, especially when you factor in trying to get the proper macro and micro nutrients in each meal - protein, "good" fats, the "right" carbohydrates, enough vegetables, enough fruits, etc.People get very frustrated with all of this and end up taking shortcuts, such as eating only 2 or 3 meals a day. In addition, they have no idea if they are getting enough (or too much) of the vitamins, m  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Eating Bran to Eliminate Constipation
One reason many people are constipated is they don’t eat a lot of fiber. Most people only eat about 8 mg of fiber per day. To have good health and have good elimination, you need around 30- 35 mg of fiber.Eating bran is one of the quickest and best ways to increase your fiber. It will increase the weight and size of your stools more than the fiber contained in fruits or vegetables. Bran is the outer husk of the grain – wheat, corn, rice, and oat – which is indigestible.It does not irritate the lining of the stomach, small intestine or your colon. It is not a laxative but promotes the movement fecal matter through your colon in a natural way. Unlike drugstore lax  (read full article)

 Article Title :: Yerba Mate: The Powerhouse Nutrient For Healing, Anti-Aging and Enhanced Health
Many think of Yerba Mate as a tea beverage. While the chemical components are quite similar to green tea, it is in fact far more nutritious, because scientific study has shown it to contain nearly all of the necessary life-sustaining vitamins, minerals and nutrients. It has been found to be loaded with an even richer and more potent array of antioxidants than green tea.Yerba Mate, a popular South American beverage, is brewed from the dried leaves and stemlets of the small evergreen Yerba Mate tree found in the highlands of Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. Tea comes from a different plant altogether. So while Yerba Mate is similar in chemical structure to tea, it is a co  (read full article)

It is through the digestive system the body is able to make use of the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that are consumed.
