Article Title :: Should Taxpayers Fund One-on-One Assistance to Autism Children in School

Some Autistic Parents demand that their local school system pay for one-on-one certified and trained teachers to handle their kids. In listening to all these parents rational for their demands I must say that; I see your very valuable points. However; I also believe that we all must take care of our own responsibilities in America and if one chooses to have children they roll the dice. Perhaps an Autism Child is not what they had hoped for, but it is indeed the reality they must deal with and take responsibility for of course. I do not believe that these Autistic Children should "Expect" the government to deal with this problem, as really the Government did not create it, The parent (read full article)

Article Title :: Choosing A Name For Your Baby

Apart from life itself, a name is perhaps the most precious thing you will give to your baby. Sociologists, baby experts and teachers agree that your child's name impacts on his or her personality, baby's ability to interact with his or her peers, and how he or she is seen by total strangers. Here are a few things you should take into account when choosing your baby's name.Uniqueness: The current fashion is to give baby an unusual name or a traditional name with different spelling so that she stands out from the crowd. A friend has a daughter called Emily. At school there are 2 other Emilys in the class, so she is known as Emily T. It was a year before the little girl understood th (read full article)

Article Title :: Get A Bed Wetting Alarm - Stay Dry Throughout The Night

A bed wetting alarm is a very effective device to use when helping children overcome nocturnal enuresis. Bedwetting is very embarrassing to children and if not handled sensitively, it can have psychological effects, such as making them feel ashamed of fearful. Alarms for bed wetting help to treat the problem rather than just mask the symptoms to make it appear as if the bed-wetting problem has been resolved. A bed wetting alarm is a device to be used along with another method of treatment. Parents should be aware that this device on its own will not cure bed wetting.A bedwetting alarm is a moisture detection system, which is worn with underpants designed for moisture. These can be (read full article)

Article Title :: Child Care - Stay Away To Care For Your Child

What are we to make of the child care facilities provided for our children today? The dramatic rise in delinquency and severe problems with children indicate they're to be avoided. The child care that we have set up for our children in the United States is nothing short of appalling. Mothers no longer see fit to stay at home to care for their children, where they may see their child develop and grow and train them up with the truth. No. We send our young babies off to "child care facilities" where we hand them over to complete strangers, who know nothing about them and do not really seem to care if they do or not, because they have too many other children to care for, including (read full article)

Article Title :: Parents Look Out! Are Your Kids Being Parented?

Parental control - what does this mean and what are we to do? First of all, where is the parental control in our society today? It used to be that parents knew where their kids were and what they were doing, who they were with and when they were to be home. When they did not abide by the rules and boundaries they were given, they were disciplined. This discipline not only benefited the family but also the teachers and classmates of the child, the overall quality of life and success of the child in the future.Today, where are our parents and what are they in control of? Many parents are working a combined total of over ninety hours per week. They are in dead end jobs, with lit (read full article)

Article Title :: Social Skills and Consequences: Not Just Another Word for Punishment

Let's presume you have covered these first two basic steps in your behavior change program:1. You have worked with your child to establish The Rules and why they are important. [Rules may be specifically set out poster- style guidelines or agreements, or they may be less specifically stated but understood limits and boundaries.]2. You have worked with your child to establish The Reward System related to following the rules. [Rewards may be tangible items or the natural payoffs and pleasures related to accomplishing the business of life.]Next, you establish The Consequences. Your kids need to know what will happen when they do and do not do what is expected. Con (read full article)

I thought I had heard every mean spirited comment in the world, having played ball in the nether regions of the L.A. Angels organization when I was fresh out of high school. But then, I had a teenager. One sparkling Sunday morning, when I strolled to the fridge, about to rejoice with a glass of juice and the newspaper, my daughter said: “Gee Dad, you look OLD today! What can one do; get mad? Not a good idea!Something creative surged through me and cascaded from my lips.I replied, without hesitation: “Thank you for that!”And at that moment, the sun grew even brighter and I could feel, was it a faint halo above my head?Anyway, the line wor (read full article)

Article Title :: Social Skills and Consequences: 8 Keys to Help Your Child Learn Naturally

| The heartbeat of your behavior change program is your consequences because they help you keep your rules alive. And be sure to think of 'consequences' as something very different from punishment.Consequences are natural and logical outcomes of behavior. Consequences can be rewarding. But, when there is a problem to deal with, natural consequences free you from struggling to control your child while he has opportunities to learn to solve his own problems. | Article Title :: A Mother's Reasons For Choosing Montessori |

| This is the time of year when the parents of many preschoolers must decide where their child will attend school in the fall. I wanted to take this opportunity to share my experience with Montessori preschool education.
My son is completing his second year in a Montessori preschool program and attended from the age of 3 1/2.
I chose Montessori for several reasons. First, my son is a bright, inquisitive child who already had a sound grounding in recognition of his alphabet, numbers, shapes, and colors before he started preschool. I was worried that he might be bored in a more traditional preschool. Montessori’s highly individual program means he is always challenged (read full article) |
