Article Title :: “Renee’s Mommy is Here”
“Renee’s Mommy is Here” by: Kimberly Chastain I still remember the scene vividly. I was getting out of my car at the baby-sitter’s house and a little boy comes running out the door. The little boys begins to yell - “Renee’s Mommy is here!” I remember stopping in my tracks and thinking - “Oh, that is who I am now - Renee’s Mommy.” My whole identity is now Renee’s Mommy - or is it? As a Christian Working Mom I have multiple roles, I am Renee’s Mommy and Zachary’s Mommy as well. I am John’s wife, Betty and Eldred’s daughter, Karen’s sister, church worker, school helper, a therapist, professional coach, and a child of God. Do you often wonder who you are?  Article Title :: Are Your Children Growing Up Too Fast?
Are Your Children Growing Up Too Fast? by: Kimberly Chastain Each time our children graduate from one stage to another (i.e. crawling - walking, preschool - school, highschool - graduation) we as parents are excited and a little sad as well. We want our children to grow up, but we reminisce about the "good old" days. I think those mixed feelings are normal for all of us. My question for you is - "Are your children growing up too fast emotionally and socially?" We can't stop their physical growth, but we can effect their emotional and social growth. Our society is compressing childhood more and more to where children are not children for very long. We only have 18 years in our entire   (read full article)

Article Title :: Here’s Help for the “I Can’t Say ‘No’ Blues”
Here’s Help for the “I Can’t Say ‘No’ Blues” by: Kimberly Chastain I hear it all the time. Cries from Christian women who want desperately to serve the Lord, but who feel overwhelmed. “I almost dread going to PTO meetings or church services anymore because I just know somebody else is going to ask me to help with something,” they say. “Don’t get me wrong. I want to help, but there are only so many hours in my day. I feel like I’m just going to explode if I don’t get some relief.” What usually follow these statements are apologies. “I’m sorry. I don’t mean to complain. I’ve been blessed with so much that I have no choice but to give back. And I  (read full article)

Article Title :: Do your kids have a “Safety Telephone Number”? If
Do your kids have a “Safety Telephone Number”? If not, you should get one for FREE! by: Chris Landry What is a “Safety Number”? A Safety Number is a toll free number (i.e. an 800, 877, 888, 866 number) that parents can obtain so children can call home for FREE from any telephone in the United States. If your child needs to get a hold of you because they are lost, scared, hurt, or in trouble, they can pick up any phone (even a payphone) and call home even if they don’t have any money on them. Most people think a Toll-Free number is primarily used for businesses. There are some famous Toll-Free numbers like 1 800 CONTACTS, 1 800 FLOWERS, and 1 800 MATRESS for instance  (read full article)

Article Title :: Mindfulness: You're Soaking In It!
Mindfulness: You're Soaking In It! by: Maya Talisman Frost Looking for a bit more mindfulness in your daily life? Relax. You're soaking in it! Perhaps you remember Madge the Manicurist, a television commercial character who commiserates with her clients about their chapped hands. While she is filing the nails of one hand, she conspiratorially confides that her client is actually soaking her other hand in Palmolive dishwashing liquid. After all, "It softens hands while you do the dishes." It was a memorable pitch--good visual, element of surprise, great what-it-will-do-for-you line. That commercial, in several variations, ran for nearly thirty years. Jan Miner, the actress who playe  (read full article)

Article Title :: Is Your Child Ready For an Allowance?
Is Your Child Ready For an Allowance? by: Heidi Hoff Children think money grows on trees. Maybe not literally, but they sure think there is a never-ending supply of it. They see you at the grocery store pushing a cart overflowing with the week's groceries; you hand the cashier a piece of plastic and suddenly it's all yours. People come to the door asking for money to support a charity and it magically appears from the bottom of your purse as if you were pulling a rabbit from a hat. Instead of "mama" or "dada", "checkbook" might have been your child's first word. It makes no sense to them then, that every time they ask for something they'd like from the stor  (read full article)

When you get criticized, do you view it as failure or opportunity? It’s not what you know that makes the difference in how you handle the criticism and confrontations, but how you apply & utilize what you know. Your Child’s Self-Esteem is in The Cards by: Susan Howson Research has shown that the present generation of children worldwide is demonstrating more social-emotional challenges (from low self-esteem to depression) than ever before. Families, schools, recreation programs etc. are recognizing that it is critical our children be taught positive values like caring about others and oneself, behaving responsibly, recognizing and managing emotions and developing positive relationships.  Article Title :: Cyber Parenting 101
Cyber Parenting 101 by: Judith Kallos Many parental units are not "techies" and openly admit they are not. They seem to use that as an excuse to not be informed and "trust" their children to do what is right in an environment that is clearly risky. When it comes to underage children being online, there should be a set of household rules that are in place and followed or no online connections are allowed. Parenting: n: The rearing of a child or children, especially the care, love, and guidance given by a parent. One who begets, gives birth to, or nurtures and raises a child. Nothing there about "except when they are online." ;-) Here are my suggestions for technochallenged p  (read full article)
