Lessons in Shooting Hoops
by: Alyice Edrich
No matter where we look or what life throws our way, there is always a lesson to be learned, if we just take the time to look for it.
On February 27, 2004 our family was fortunate enough to take a mini-vacation, courtesy of our 13-year-old son. The week before this big event, our son entered a local “Hoop Shooting” competition and won first place, four tickets to the University game, and a chance to win the regionals. So Saturday morning we packed our bags, booked a hotel, and headed down to Green Bay, Wisconsin to join many other aspiring basketball shooters for a chance to move forward to the state championships.

Garage Sales Aren't For Wimps
by: Alyice Edrich
This month I learned a very valuable lesson about myself. I do not like to host garage sales, but I love the money that comes from getting rid of my “junk.” Yep! You heard me say it, “JUNK!”
By definition junk means to me: used stuff, in good condition, that one person no longer wants but another person has been looking for at a good price.
I’ve always been an avid believer in donating my used stuff to a charitable establishment that could put the money to good use. Since I had gotten my fair use out of the objects, I saw no reason to try to sell them in hopes of reclaiming some of the money I spent. So when my friend asked (read full article) |

Crippling our Children the Heelys Way – And now in Adult models too!

“Heelys – The only shoe with a removable wheel in the heel”. – http://www.heelys.com
I figured that Heelys had the best description of their own product, so I decided not to re-invent the wheel and copied it verbatim.
Fortunately, or maybe not, Heelys’ positioning in the market has made them the “Scotch Tape” of the wheel in the heel industry. Customers interchangeably use the term “Scotch Tape” for adhesive tape and Heelys for every shoe with a wheel in the heel.
Prior to our discussion proper, I must point out that I am impartial to genuine Heelys or third world knock-outs. Henc (read full article) |

The Rejection is a Masked Deprivation
by: Nilesh Gore
Parents rejection of the child, though unintentional, is also shown in various ways, like physical neglect, denial of love and affection, lack of interest in the child’s activities, interests and achievement, harsh or inconsistent punishment, failure to spend time with the child, or any kind of a activity of apparent which keeps child away.
Parent’s rejection can be partial or complete, passive or active and subtly or overtly heartless. To keep the child in a crèche (pre-school, etc.) is also a form of rejection.

Helping New Parents and Infants Transition
by: Veola Momon
Of all the research done on childcare and early childhood education you'd think someone would do studies on the fear that make couples looney in the head after they become parents. The biggest thing for a new parent is fear. Fear of what they would do if anything happened to their little Johnny or little Sue. This advice was given to them by their loving and caring family, friends, experts and professionals that never had a child. Truly all of that wonderful advice was meant to help the new parents, but it set off a stampede of stuff inside of them even they didn't know they had.
So for three months they are homebound with th (read full article) |

First Year With Twins…a Father’s Point of View
by: Dan Brunkow
People always ask my wife and I: “How did you ever do it with two babies? I just can’t imagine it”. My answer is always the same…we just do. We just do what needs to be done. Yes, it’s hard. Yes, it’s exhausting. Yes, it’s stressful. But we find a way to get the things done that need to be done. That’s really the key, is finding a way that works for you and your spouse. Tips For Parents On How To Deal With Bullying
by: News Canada
Often a serious problem for kids
(NC)-Bullying behaviour may seem rather insignificant compared to the trouble that some kids can get into. In fact, it is often dismissed as just another part of "growing up."
It shouldn't be.
Statistics show that one in four children who bully will have a criminal record before the age of thirty. Teasing at bus stops, taking other children's lunch money, insults and threats, kicking and punching - it's all fair game to the bully. On the flip side, fear of bullies causes many kids to avoid school or carry and even use weapons for protection. While everyone is a potential bullying target, v (read full article) |
