| Article Title :: Jake The Border Collie Tells His Tales |
| |
|
Hi everyone, it's Jake here again... with a follow-up to my
first dog story, that was called "Jake's Own Story" and gave a
brief biographical insight into my life so far.
Here is my update... The last two years have been busy for mom
and dad, for one reason or another, but somehow they always had
time for me!
Whenever they arrived home, I was always there with a big
"Hello, missed you loads and it's great to have you home". I
think this helped to relax them a bit...since I always got taken
for walks, no matter how tired they were. We didn't go very far
sometimes but I always made the most of it and would enjoy every
moment. I would just be myself and as everyone knows, a dog can
have a g (read full article) |

| Article Title :: It Is Possible To Give Your Cat A Bath, And Come Away Scratch
Free |
| |
|
Although your cat doesn't realise it right now, after some
tender loving care and a little shampoo, he will appreciate it.
Cats hate water, that much is easy to see as he lashes out at
you with his claws when he gets anywhere near it. Why would
someone want to bathe their cat, then?
Well, they are dirty and can become flea infested just like a
dog, so they do need them. Sometimes, you'll just have to do it.
The key is to not bathe your cat more than once a month as you
will damage his skin and his hair if you do so more than that.
And, you can do it.
The Supplies
To do the task, you'll need some supplies. The very least you
will need are two cloth towels, a pet safe shampoo and
conditi (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Keeping Discus Fish - Hard or Soft Water? |
| |
|
It has been debated a lot about whether to keep discus fish in
hard water or soft water. People have had success with both
methods so it's not an easy answer but I will share with you,
how I do things and what has worked for me.
Here's the first rule I use when buying and importing discus
fish;
Match the water conditions of your supplier.
If you follow this rule you will be at a great advantage as the
discus will already be accustomed to the water you provide. This
will cause a lot less stress than moving discus used to hard
water into soft water. Now your water doesn't have to match
exactly but if it is about right things should be OK. Don't go
getting stressed if your hardness is out a (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Dog Training Tips: Things I've Learned About Agility Dog
Training |
| |
|
I've owned many dogs, throughout my life, but have never known
exactly how to train them properly. I based my training on
punishment and just couldn't figure out why that didn't work
that well. But, almost two years ago, I started training my
Papillon for agility competition. She was extremely high-drive
and I knew she'd really love it. So, I found a good agility
training school and off we went. We've been competing, very
successfully, for almost a year now and, looking back, I learned
so many important things about dog training!
First of all, most trainers require that dogs have completed at
least a basic obedience class before proceeding to agility
training. This is critical to agility (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Breed Profile |
| |
|
History
The title of "King Charles Spaniel" was bestowed upon these dogs
during the reign of King Charles II, who adored his spaniels and
would not be parted from them. A law that was passed by King
Charles II, still stands today that these little dogs can enter
any public place, including the houses of parliament!
These little dogs were used to warm the laps of nobility on
carriage rides and in cold castles and buildings, so they really
are the original "lap dog".
Appearance
Cavalier's are pretty little dogs, with long flowing coats with
long flowing feathers on their legs and beautiful long ears (I'd
recommend tying the ears back out of the way at dinner time!!)
They have very l (read full article) |

They look very sweet, but strong and have a happy, proud air
when they are trotting around the park!

but they make good protection dogs as they are extremely alert
and brave.
Westies are affectionate dogs but can withstand plenty of rough

| Article Title :: "Sheltie" - Shetland Sheepdog Breed Profile |
| |
|
History
The Shetland Sheepdog can be traced back many years to the
Shetland Isles, where they were bred as a herding dog.
Smaller, hardier animals were required to survive the harsh
conditions in the Shetland Isles and thus, the Shetland Sheepdog
was developed. No official records exist, but it is believed
that Sheltie's probably derived from Scottish Collies, which
were smaller than today's Collies.
Appearance
Shelties are very pretty little dogs with almond shaped eyes,
giving them a very sweet expression.
Shelties should stand at approximately 36 cm tall for females
and 37 cm tall for males.
They have very long, thick coats and come in a wide variety of
colours; Sable, Tri-co (read full article) |

| Article Title :: What Are the Treatment Options for Canine Hip Dysplasia? |
| |
|
There is no real cure for canine hip dysplasia (CHD) just yet,
but there are conservative or non-surgical ways to relieve its
symptoms. These include the use of drugs to relieve pain and
inflammation. Rimadyl, Ectogesic and Deramaxx are effective and
have given a lot of suffering dogs the relief needed to live a
normal life. Weight loss programs, controlled exercise and
physical therapy are also very effective in certain cases.
When conservative treatment is not enough, the only other option
is surgery. Surgery can be very effective as it corrects the
underlying cause of hip pain which is a malformed joint. Surgery
is approached in two different ways when dealing with hip
dysplasia. Prophy (read full article) |

| Article Title :: 5 Big Reasons to Crate Train your Dog |
| |
|
Are you frustrated with your dog?
Does he chew everything in sight? Does he leave puddles and
piles everywhere? Is a car ride with your dog synonym of a
nightmare?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, I have a simple
solution for you: crate training.
Here are 5 big reasons why you should start crate training your
dog:
Reason #1: A Crate Stops Destructive Behaviors
Most dogs are destructive because they don't have anything more
interesting to do than chew on everything they can sink their
teeth in.
You have to remember that chewing is a natural dog behavior and
an excellent way for your dog to burn his excess of energy.
Consequently, your job is not to stop your dog from ch (read full article) |
