| Article Title :: Are You Considering Homeschooling? |
| |
|
Homeschooling is becoming a popular alternative to the
deteriorating public government schools.
Raymond Moore, president of the Hewitt Research Center estimates
that 1/4 to 1/2 million children are being homeschooled today
and predicts that this number will grow to 1 million in the near
future.
In the past, only hippies, religious fanatics and anti-social
sects homeschooled their children. Today homeschooling crosses
all demographics, income levels, age levels, and religious
beliefs. These parents all have one common thread: they feel
that they can educate their children better than the government.
The purpose of home schooling is to give the child the best
education possible and create (read full article) |

| Article Title :: The Unpopular Truth About Building Self-esteem In Children And
Teens |
| |
|
At our live workshops, we often get requests for interventions
that can enhance self-worth-- and we do have many creative
methods for all age levels. However, at class, we always offer a
cautionary note: If a child hears at home that they are no good,
or the child is called racist names, or is physically assaulted
in the community, there is no strategy that can speak louder
than that fist, that racist name, or that put-down from home.
So, the best time to use self-esteem builders is when the child
is no longer being put down at home, called bad names, etc.
It may not be a popular perspective, but it is probably correct:
When children are currently facing events that generate low
self-estee (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Teachers: Discover How To End Your Classroom Management
Nightmare Now |
| |
|
The top question we get at Live Expert Help at our web site is
"How do I get kids to behave?" Often, that teacher or counselor
is looking for new discipline methods that will better engender
appropriate behavior in their setting. Often, that teacher or
counselor does not like our answer.
Our answer is that discipline and consequences are often
ineffective. Yes, every school or agency needs both, but alone,
they don't work. Alone? Yes, if you have a discipline and
consequence structure set up, but have not first taught your
students the skills, motivation and attitudes that they need to
perform the desired behaviors, you will almost certainly find
your discipline is ineffective.

| Article Title :: The Joy of Teaching (for anyone in any setting) |
| |
|
There is inherent joy in teaching. With the widely advertised
challenges facing public school teachers today, finding that joy
may appear to be a difficult path for exploration. But teaching
can be an act of community involvement on the part of any one of
us and not just the traditional career move. In either case
teaching is one of the most important commitments a person can
make.
A national system of public education has been a cornerstone of
our strong, wholesome American society. "The skills that we are
trying to teach children in partnership with parents and
extended families are absolutely critical to the success of the
child, and the success of this nation", says Judith Burdack,

| Article Title :: Death penalty: for or against? |
| |
|
Every evening when we sit back on our sofas and relax, we watch
TV. In the evening action is on mostly. Daily we see how someone
is murdered, but we find it exciting and watch such films with
pleasure. What could the consequences be if some of these
episodes could be taken into the real life? A verdict can be
very strict, the most cruel verdict at all. Murderers are
charged death penalty. But nowadays we have a conflict on this
basis. Should one be condemned to death or just get a life
sentence and that's it?

| Article Title :: Choice Theory |
| |
|
Choice Theory
You have listened to me for a year now talking about Choice
Theory but I know I've never really explained what Choice Theory
is. Choice Theory is actually an explanation of all human
behavior developed by Dr. William Glasser.
There are basically five components of this theory--the basic
human needs, the quality world, the perceived world, the

of each one, starting with the five basic human needs.
The Basic Human Needs We are born with five basic human
needs--survival, love & belonging, power, freedom and fun. We
are all born with these needs but we experience them to varying
degrees. One person might have a hig (read full article) |
