Article Title :: Windows 2000 Security

I was asked recently to go to a car dealership and do a security analysis on their Windows Server 2000 machine. This is what I recommend doing to any Windows 2000 machine where applicable.Make sure that the guest account is disabled. It comes disabled by default.A problem I notice allot is when I go to companies, lots of accounts are still active for employees who no longer work there. They should be removed when the employee is terminated or leaves on their own accord. Disgruntled employees have been known to wreck havoc.Group policies can and should be implemented in a Windows 2000 environment and audited to make sure there are no extra accounts or accounts wi (read full article)

tommorrow. She thought he said 'there is a fly on my desktop'
and politely told him 'tell your father and he will fix it'. Of

she lives right around the corner in the city of richardson
texas - about what to do, did you check your virus/spyware

Article Title :: Internet Basics: Anti-Virus Software is Like a Soldier Ant

Ever see soldier ants at their anthill? They have one job -- protect what's inside. How do they do this? They stop anything unfriendly from coming in. Fortunately for the soldier ants, it's easy to know what not to let in -- if it ain't an ant, no passage allowed! But ants going in sometimes bring things along with them, things they're carrying that could be dangerous to the life of the hill. What if, for example, an ant out looking for food found a yummy red can full of free food just sitting there. He grabs a bunch. Heads back to the hill. The soldier ant sees the other ant is an ant, and so he's free to pass - only neither ant recognizes the food being brought in is actuall (read full article)

The need for computer users to install Anti-Spyware programs becomes more and more evident each day, as more and more users experience problems caused by Spyware. The problems can be annoying, but essentially harmless, such as a slow downed computer or irritating pop-up windows. Unfortunately, the Spyware programs are capable of causing much more sever harm than that. For example, Spyware has been linked to identity thefts as well as credit card frauds. Spyware programs can gather and transmit very sensitive information about you to their owner, such as lists of all your visited websites, details from your online purchases, e-mail addresses and phone numbers to friends, family and colleag (read full article)

| The network administrator an a company ran a normal web activity report of all the enterprise’s users and found that the employees were logging thousands of hits per day on a single site that had nothing to do with the business. What was found was not that the employees were slacking while at work, rather the network was infected with spyware that was tracking the surfers’ activity then sending the information back to the web site for a third part to review and use, all without the employees’ knowledge.Spyware can and will slow a computer’s bandwidth as well as cause the network to gradual decrease its speed. | Article Title :: Security, Productivity, and Cost Controls |

| Go ahead; mention computer security to the average small business owner. See how fast his hand covers his wallet. This is because most people see security as an expense. The average small business owner immediately thinks about the costs to implement something, not necessarily how it will help his business.Of course, this reaction varies on the number of security incidents the small business owner has experienced. It is amazingly easy to convince a client to install a backup system after he has lost his entire customer database. So what do we do? Nothing in the business world exists in a vacuum.
