Article Title :: English Soccer - England's Football League Division One Review

It would appear that Swindon Town have been keeping an eye on Football England recently, at least that's what I'm claiming anyway. Since I tipped them as most likely to stay up in the now ferocious relegation battle, they haven't put a foot wrong. This was confirmed by another good win at home to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday. The 2-1 victory, gives them three on the bounce on the row, and confidence seems to have been restored. Any struggling teams yet to visit the County Ground - beware.Manager Iffy Onoura was well pleased with the latest result, and also seems optimistic of survival. Perhaps he's also in a good mood because the proposed television project featuring Bi (read full article)

Article Title :: Didier Drogba and the Ivory Coast Men's National Soccer Team

Didier Drogba was a smash hit at the African Nations Cup which was produced by CAF (Confederation of African Football) and hosted in Egypt. The final with Ivory Coast took place on February 10 2006 and was won by the host country Egypt 4-2 on penalty shoot-out.Didier Drogba had the most impact of any other national player of any other of the participaying teams during the course of the intra African match-ups. He is essentially a centeral force on any of the teams he has played on.. This also includes Chelsea of the English Premier League of which he is also a striker. For team mate, Toure, Drogba presents a potentially decisive edge in the first c (read full article)

Article Title :: George Best - A Profile of the Manchester United Players Career

In 1961 Manchester United's scout in Northern Ireland, Bob Bishop, telegrammed the clubs' legendary manager Matt Busby in a state of unusual excitement."I think I have found you a genius," he eagerly explained. He had indeed. But neither Bishop, Busby nor anybody else could have imagined the impact his skin and bone, fifteen year old discovery would make on Manchester United, football throughout the world and society as a whole. On the recommendation of Bishop this "genius", George Best, was packed off to Manchester along with another prospect, Eric McMordie, for a two week trial. Fazed by their journey into the unknown and immediately homesick the youngsters scarpered (read full article)

Article Title :: Hardest Job in Football?

All football supporters have one hatred in common and that is the “wanker in black”. This person has the ability to affect the outcome of any game. Their mistakes can be more costly than that of a keeper and yet we only have semi pro’s doing these important roles. Any club will have countless examples where they have been on the end of a wrong decision and it never gets any less frustrating. This is not helped when some refs seem determined to make headlines by doing things that are completely outrageous. In fact in many cases I am sure that refs are only trying to complete their autograph collection and that’s why they book certain players. As a old Chelsea supporter I reme (read full article)

Article Title :: The Search Continues

The small matter of who is going be next England manager is being discussed the length and breadth of the country so I figured I would give my 50 cents on the subject.I have never been that much of an admirer of Sven and his actions since he has been in the job have not impressed me one bit. His talks with Chelsea were an absolute disgrace and his subsequent affairs have diverted attention away from the main failings of his term, which for me have been his tactical incompetence in crucial games. Most notably the games against Brazil in 2002 and France and then Portugal in 2004, taking the Brazil game first. England went one nil up and looked comfortable until a lack of concen (read full article)

Article Title :: Diving Kuntz

| The recent issue of diving has raised its ugly head again, with the high profile case of Robben falling theatrically to the floor as he had been shot when Reina, wrongly, raised his hand to him. It got me to thinking that modern players do seem to dive more and more often and surely the time has come for the authorities to start looking at punishment for offenders.
How did this situation come about? Many people blame it on the influx of foreign players into the English game, and that it is not an English problem. This is correct to a certain extent, whilst it will always be the foreigners who get highlighted as serial divers, we cannot dismiss the fact that many British players also take (read full article) |

Article Title :: Souness – an Accident Waiting to Happen

Being a Newcastle fan you learn to live more in hope than expectation, yet the one thing we do demand is to be entertained. Graeme Souness was on the verge of the sack from Blackburn Rovers in August 2004 and yet Newcastle United’s walking public relations disaster and part-time chairman, Freddie Shepherd, in his infinite wisdom decided to PAY the Lancashire club for the man’s services! £1.65m later and with several lucrative contracts sorted for Souey’s entourage of a clueless old timer, a few well wishers and his ‘yes’ man Dean Saunders, Newcastle United proudly presented Souness to the media. The new manager spoke in glowing terms about the club and how proud he was that his (read full article)

Article Title :: Liverpool Fc - Times Changing?

This week has seen us revert back to form, typical of Liverpool’s previous seasons. The loss at Chelsea was disappointing and saw our faint hopes of catching them become more distant. Robben’s acting to get Reina sent off left a bitter taste and, will do nothing to improve the growing rivalry between the two clubs. It was a disappointing reaction from Robben, though some would say not a surprising one.Liverpool’s decision not to appeal against Reina’s sending off meant a return to the first team for Dudek. Unfortunately it was another game to forget for Liverpool. Dudek’s first start since Istanbul saw him give away a penalty, although the decision has sparked more contro (read full article)

Article Title :: Arsenal - A Year to Forget

Where has it all gone wrong?Ok, so it’s not been the best starts to the year has it? Traditionally better in the second half of the season, our form has been has been pretty abysmal since the beginning of 2006.Defeats in both cups, an appalling away record and defeats at Fortress Highbury doesn’t exactly bode well for the up and coming European Cup games does it?So what’s gone wrong?Well, a lot has been written about Viera’s departure in the summer but had all the other elements gone in our favour this season I don’t think he would have been missed. This may be blasphemous, but his last two seasons at Highbury were not his best by a long way. He was i (read full article)

Article Title :: West Ham United - What a Difference a Year Makes

As we enter St Valentine’s week, many Hammers will be feeling full of love for everything about West Ham United. Sitting comfortably in the top half of the top division, and winning plaudits for their expansive style of play, everything is looking rosy for the claret and blues of east London. Whilst the seeds planted in the championship are now coming to full bloom, there were many who could not see the shoots of recovery slowly sprouting into life. The same sweet nothings could not have been whispered this time last year. After the club had suffered relegation 18 months previously, the fans were growing impatient. Manager Alan Pardew was under increasing pressure, as his team of (read full article)
