| Article Title :: Top Ten Junk Email Do's and Don'ts |
| |
|
Top Ten Junk Email Do's and Don'ts © 2003 - Esu Matra
First, a definition (several definitions, actually)...
Spam Email: Refers generally to email communication that you do
not want, from senders that you do not have any existing
business relationship with, sent in large quantities of mostly
identical messages. Also refers to junk email, UCE (Unsolicited
Commerical Email), and sometimes to bulk email.
It seems that email usage has turned from being a window on the
world to being in a cell in a fortress or castle. You are afraid
that you don't have enough defenses. You don't like being in the
fort, because you remember that only a short while ago this same
location was a beautiful ope (read full article) |

Why do we hate spam so much? By Linda Landry (c)
Everyone agrees that spam is BAD! We obviously hate it because
we named it SPAM. The garbage lunch meat packed in a can and
made from leftover animal parts; the next thing to waste! Yes, I
agree it is annoying to have your electronic mail box filled
with unsolicited mail. But isn't that what the delete key is
for? Once you eliminate the unwanted item, it is as if it never
existed. So why do we get so upset? Is it because we get
unnecessary mail telling us how to grow body organs we don't
have or how to get more pleasure from sex? Or is it the
pornography we did not request and we are embarrassed that
someone may think we did? I am sure the l (read full article) |

| Article Title :: What is Spam Anyway? |
| |
|
I've found when people discuss spam they really have no idea
what they are talking about. There are as many different
definitions of spam as there are people. In point of fact, this
factor alone (not being able to define what spam is and what it
consists of) makes it virtually impossible to control.
In order to control spam, a useful definition is necessary. Why?
Simple. In order to control something, you must know what you
are controlling. When you understand the basic facts, then you
can take whatever course of action is necessary. Until you
achieve that understanding, you will be shooting blindly at an
undefined target. This makes it very difficult to actually do
anything useful.

Businesses and consumers are drowning in a never-ending deluge
of Spam (junk mail) – according to reports just released by
Quris, Inc. Spam has increased 450% from June of 2001 to now.
Furthermore, 70% of respondents indicated they are receiving so
much e-mail in the form of Spam that it’s negating their
acceptance and responsiveness to legitimate opt-in e-mail
messages (permission based). The average business user is forced
to spend 20-30 minutes a day wading through Spam clogged e-mail
in-boxes trying to separate legitimate e-mail from the junk in
order to delete the latter.
Many companies have tried to offer Spam solutions that are based
primarily on filtering technology. But, most (read full article) |

Hands down, email is the most widely used and loved computer
application brought to life by the Internet.
According to the publication 'Messaging Today' (2000 Electronic
Mailbox Report - Feb. 21, 2001), "Email is the most successful
communications technology since the television, and in a few
years will even surpass that. There are currently more than 891
million email accounts in use Worldwide and 440 million in the
U.S. alone - with an average of more than 4 email accounts per
person."
While more than 200 million of us use and enjoy email, there are
a few thousand people abusing the system and damaging the
communication potential of email for the rest of us.

| Article Title :: Spammers - Where do They Come Up With This Stuff? |

|
Lets face it we all get spammed and it drives us nuts! If it
were not for folders, I would probably NEVER find my "legitmate"
email. I probably do NOT get as much spam as most people do, but
when I do get it, boy do I get it! I especially love it when
people come by and spam my paid list building site, little do
they know that I have several ways of finding out WHO they are
;o)
When it comes right down to it though, sometimes you really have
to laugh at some of the garbage they send. According to spammers
not only do I need viagra, I also need an enlargement for a body
part I don't even have. I some how also managed to request this
information at one of their sites, not once, but 200 freak (read full article) |
