| Article Title :: First French Club to Lift Europe's Top Club Trophy Now Under Investigation for Faul Play |
| |
| Former Marseille midfielder Jean-Jacques Eydelie told French sports daily L'Equipe that the whole Marseille team, except striker Rudi Voeller, received an "injection" before the 1-0 win over AC Milan. According to him the Marseille players were asked to stand in a line to receive an injection before the match.
He also said doping and match-fixing was commonplace during his time at Marseille. He was also involved in the match-fixing scandal in which Marseille was stripped of its 1993 league title for bribing opponents before a match. Eydelie said he was ordered to give money to the wife of former Valenciennes player Christophe Robert to convince him to lose the match in 1993 aga (read full article) |

| Article Title :: How To Choose A Kayak |
| |
| There are many things to take into consideration when purchasing any equipment used for water sports. Am I using this for competitive or recreational use? Will it become obsolete? Will I be using it alone or with someone else?
When choosing a kayak in particular there are many features to consider. One of the first decisions to make is to decide how the kayak will be used. For example, you will not want to use the same kayak in the ocean as you would use in a pond and could even be life threatening.
If you are using the kayak by yourself you need to know that you can comfortably lift the kayak to the height of the rack you will transport it on as well as put it bac (read full article) |

| Article Title :: THE NEW, HIGH SCORING NHL? |
| |
|
The NHL decided to go retro this year. That's right. It's not so
much that they instituted new rules; rather they went back to
some old ones. The hoped for result has happened--scoring is up
24% from 2003-04.
Is the game more exciting? It seems to be. Are goaltenders and
defensemen at a greater disadvantage than they were the last
time the league produced a season of hockey? Definitely. The
game has opened up for numerous reasons. The prohibition of the
two-line pass is gone and that has opened up more chances for
exciting playmaking. Now a defenseman who is still in his own
zone can now shoot a pass to a winger breaking across the red
line who catches it and continues over the blue line, (read full article) |

Billy Crystal's one-man show is titled "700 Sundays." NFL
underdog bettors in 2005 may have felt this past season lasted
700 Sundays, as favorites 'covered' at a record rate. However,
the current NFL season has totaled just 20 Sundays (including
Christmas and New Year's Day).
My free play for Friday is in the NBA. Take the Cle Cavaliers
over the Ind Pacers at 7:05 ET. I'm traveling on Friday and will
take a rare 'pass'. Check back on Saturday, as my games will be
available by 9:00 ET.
January 29 will mark the first Sunday in the last 21 with no NFL
football, as everyone awaits Super Bowl XL in Detroit on
February 5. The Steelers are either a 3 1/2 or four-point
favorite with the total h (read full article) |

With the college basketball season in full swing, Matt Fargo
takes a look at three big games on tap that you cannot miss this
Saturday.
Wisconsin Badgers at Michigan Wolverines 2:30 PM ET
Wisconsin is the lowest of the five ranked teams from the Big
Ten yet the Badgers are alone in first place. With a win they
can knock one of the five teams that trail them by a single game
down further in the standings. Michigan is one of those teams
and the Wolverines have quietly gone about their business this
season with a 14-3 record including a 4-2 mark in the
conference. Surprisingly, they are not ranked.
Wisconsin bounced back in fine fashion following a loss last
Saturday at home to North Dak (read full article) |

| Article Title :: TEAM RECORD UNDER 500--NO PROBLEM IN THE NBA |
| |
|
Of the four major professional sports in America, basketball is
the only one where a team with a .500 or under record has a
chance of making the playoffs. In the NHL, where like the NBA a
little over 50% of the teams go to the playoffs; clubs with
losing records don't come close to competing for Lord Stanley's
Cup.
This year in the NFL, where even the Wild Card teams sported a
.688 winning percentage, the Kansas City Chiefs were left out of
the post-season tournament after going 10-6 (.625). Major League
Baseball saw the San Diego Padres win their division and earn a
2005 playoff berth with a .506 winning mark, but they were an
anomaly. This season all other MLB playoff teams won 90 or mor (read full article) |

The biggest news coming out of last night's busy 12-game NBA
schedule was that yes, Ron Artest was going to the Sacramento
Kings for Peja Stojakovic. Here's hoping the Maloof brothers
don't get rid of The Palms Hotel anytime soon!
As for on court action, the Pistons needed OT but their 106-102
win over the Bucks give them a 35-5 record, making it the
fourth-best 40-game start in NBA history.
My free play for Thursday is on South Alabama over Denver at
9:00 ET. Another 2-1 night in CBB on Wednesday and my college
hoops run has reached 16-6-1, since January 14! Even more
impressively, my CBB 15* plays have cashed at the rate of 77.8%
since Jan 1, after winning my first CBB totals play of (read full article) |

Standing at 67% ATS in this specialty conference of mine, along
with a 61% ATS record in the Big 12, one other conference I
specialize in, once again, keying in on a few conferences is
showing success. That being said here are my weekly takes on
what is going on in this mid-major conference as I highlight
some teams to keep an eye on. There is a 3-way tie for first
place right now, with Northern Iowa, Wichita State and Southern
Illinois all locked up at 8-2 in conference play and these 4
teams have a combined home record of 37-2 SU.
Southern Illinois- Guess who has the longest home winning streak
in the USA in conference action? The Saluki's of Southern
Illinois at 34 games, and we cashed (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Make Your Golf Practice Count |
| |
|
Most golfers, regardless of their ability level, are guilty of
wasting their practice time. How many times have you been at a
driving range and witnessed stall after stall filled with tired
looking golfers endlessly beating balls. Most have selected the
large bucket and think only of launching all those little
pellets with the big stick.
Most of these people would have been better off if they had just
stayed home and mowed the lawn. Why? They are practicing without
a purpose.
PLAN YOUR GOLF PRACTICE
The first step in improving your golf is learning more about the
swing. If you do not want to take lessons, there is a wealth of
information available in books, magazines and on the web. Fin (read full article) |
