| Article Title :: The Dish: Whoa Canada! |
| |
|
The U.S. men's hockey team was a disaster waiting to happen.
Most of them got stuck in a blizzard before the Games started.
Several of them were over age 60. And they had the combined
mental toughness and discipline of former FEMA Director Michael
"Brownie" Brown. That they went 1-4-1 in Turin is no surprise.
Keith Tkachuk embarrassed himself throughout the tournament with
worse hands than Daniel Day Lewis in My Left Foot, and Mike
Modano humiliated himself complaining about his hotel
arrangements afterward. They were supposed to suck, and they
did.
But what the heck happened to Canada? I called a repeat Canadian
gold in this very space a couple weeks ago, and, um, well, not
so much. (Y (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Heart of a Champion |
| |
|
I love Allen Iverson.
Sure, the Sixers aren't having a very good season, and with
every passing game it appears less and less likely that
Iverson's going to get them the holy grail of the NBA, a
championship ring. In fact, the Sixers went into Wednesday night
25-27 SU and 22-29 ATS, not hallmarks of a team that's gonna win
the title.
So how can I say I love Iverson?
Start with his rant against Larry Brown, who is the father
figure in basketball. Sure, he's not the oldest around, but
Brown is the guy who nobody can stand to be around until he's
gone. It's like the old Mark Twain quote: "When I was 14, I
couldn't believe how ignorant my father was. When I turned 21, I
couldn't believe h (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Swing Easy |
| |
|
When I get a golf club in my hand, I get that feeling of wanting
to knock the cover off the ball. It feels good to put all of my
strength into hitting the ball. Just hitting the ball as hard as
I can does not mean that I play good golf though.
If you just need to relieve a little stress, then swinging with
all your strength may accomplish your goals. However, if you
want to play golf well, then you are going to have to hold back
on the power a little.
One of the most frequent mistakes is to swing the golf club too
hard. A hard swing shows that you have power, but accuracy is
the name of the game in golf.
You need to relax when you are swinging. This will help you
swing easily and will (read full article) |

| |
|
AI taught the "King" a thing or two Wednesday night.
I can remember back in the late 80's when the Doc came to the
Pontiac Silverdome to play his final game in Detroit. Being a
native Detroiter, it was an easy ticket considering the Pistons
routinely sold 30, 40, even 50 thousand tickets to the big
games. The Lakers and Celtics were the main draws back then,
however, the NBA has come full circle since the late 80's.
Wednesday night, AI and the Sixers hosted the world's greatest
basketball player, LeBron "King" James. The face of the NBA was
on full display. A capacity crowd (which is rare these days at
Sixers games) filled The Wachovia Center to see what kind of
show the Sixers had in sto (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Wiffle Ball Baseball teaches pitching and hitting skills and
builds confidence |
| |
|
The game of wiffle ball is lots of fun, and teaches many skills
that are valuable in baseball and softball. Kids play it because
it's fun and can be played anywhere. You can play in your
backyard, in the street, in a field, on a baseball diamond, and
even the beach. The wiffle ball itself is lightweight and won't
break any windows, and won't hurt children if a pitch hits them.
The wiffle ball bat is lightweight and can be handled by
children of nearly any age.
Children that play wiffle ball are actually building their
self-confidence. As a pitcher, the wiffle ball will spin, curve,
and wiggle in almost any direction. As a hitter, a child gains
confidence in swinging the wiffle ball bat an (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Baseball Pitcher Warm-Up and Stretching |
| |
|
Pitching a baseball game begins long before you even step onto
the pitching mound. It is important to prepare both physically
and mentally for pitching in a game. Below are some mental and
physical steps you can do to prepare for pitching on the day of
the big baseball game.
When you wake up in the morning, begin mentally visualizing your
pitching experience. Start imagining how your pitching will be
that day. While taking your morning shower, think about how you
want your pitching strategy to be. Do you want to throw many
fastballs? Do you want to vary your pitching a lot in the game?
Do you want to try and strike every batter out? Or would you
want to pitch each batter in such a way as t (read full article) |

| Article Title :: Fantasy Football Information: On Draft Day, Don't Forget the Curry |
| |
| Fantasy football books, magazines and other experts will likely forget a key ingredient in their recipe for building a fantasy football champion next season. That ingredient is Curry, Ronald Curry, a forth-year wide receiver for the Oakland Raiders. Now, Curry posted some noteworthy fantasy football numbers a year ago, but they weren’t the kind of numbers that make the average fantasy football player race to select him in the top three rounds of their fantasy drafts. This may be a critical oversight.Curry might have jumped off fantasy football information sheets, if it weren’t for the arrival of Randy Moss to the Raider fold. With Moss as the obvious new number one, and Jer (read full article) |

| Pain and injury avoidance techniques for snowboarding are invaluable but not well known. If you know how, you can avoid the two biggest mistakes that first time snowboarders make. A positive experience your first few times out will make you more likely to stick out the hard times until you learn enough to really have fun!“There’s no reason that adults shouldn’t snowboard and have as much fun as kids” says self-proclaimed Snowboard Evangelist Lauren Traub Teton who admits to being “in her 40s”. “I have been riding a snowboard for four years, and am having the most fun of my life!”She feels that the only thing stopping “oldsters” (in their mid-30s and up) f (read full article) |

| Article Title :: How to Lose Weight and Stay Fit |
| |
| Showing up is all it takes.Swimming is a terrific way to tone the body and get in shape with very little stress on the joints. This makes it the perfect exercise for any age; all you need is a swimsuit and to find a suitable time at the pool, many have designated adult swim times or family sessions. However, sometimes the prospect of getting in the pool, especially if you consider yourself less than accomplished, can be daunting. The following is my response to a question on how to start on a major weight loss target, and highlights my main mantra which is, "keep on showing up".“Let me take your points one by one. The first one about not swimming too well. That means (read full article) |
