Помимо того, что 2.718 — максимальное приближение к числу e из всех вышедших версий, 2.7.18 ещё и последняя версия Python 2.7 и вообще всего Python 2.

Microsoft сообщает о двух уязвимостях в Adobe Type Manager Library, приводящих к удаленному исполнению кода. Несмотря на то, что они уже активно используются, исправление ожидается не раньше 14 апреля. Пока пользователям предлагается отключить в Windows Explorer панели детализации и предварительного просмотра и включить отображение иконок вместо миниатюр.

С этого дня Mozilla приступила к переводу пользователей Firefox на использование по умолчанию протокола DNS over HTTPS (DoH). Перевод пока затрагивает только пользователей из США, предполагается провести его за два недели. Все остальные пользователи вполне могут включить DoG самостоятельно (Options -> General -> Network Settings). По умолчанию в качестве провайдера DoH предлагается Cloudflare, при желании можно переключиться на NextDNS.

Во вторник Microsoft закрыла уязвимость, связанную с обработкой сертификатов в Windows 10, а также Windows Server 2016 и 2019. Подделка сертификатов открывает широкую дорогу к распространению вредоносных программ под вывеской доверенных, фишингу и т.п. Особое внимание все комментаторы обращают на то, что информацию об этой уязвимости Microsoft получила от АНБ, и что неизвестно, сколько времени перед этим она была известна агентству.

14 января 2020 заканчивается поддержка одной из лучших операционных систем Microsoft, розничная продажа которой была прекращена шесть с лишним лет назад, 30 октября 2013. Начиная со среды, пользователей Windows 7 будет встречать соответствующее надоедающее сообщение.

Google начала рассылать пользователям G Suite предупреждение о планах по отключению доступа к своим сервисам для сторонних приложений, не использующих OAuth. С 15 июня 2020 доступ будет закрыт для новых подключений, с 15 февраля 2021 для всех.

Потенциально это затрагивает большинство пользователей десктопных приложений (того же Outlook или Thunderbird), подключение которых к сервисам Google сейчас требует генерации пароля для LSA (less secure apps).

Предположительно с подачи Рамблера инициировано уголовное дело против "неустановленных лиц из числа сотрудников организации ООО «Рамблер Интернет Холдинг»", которые сначала разработали по поручению руководства "программу для ЭВМ «энджиникс»", а потом, "имея умысел на нарушение авторских прав, в неустановленном месте в неустановленное время, но не позднее 04 октября 2004 года", разместили её в открытом доступе, коварно указав там "заведомо ложную информацию «Copyright (C) 2002 - 2004 Igor Sysoev»". И до сих продолжают этим заниматься "в целях реализации преступного умысла". В качестве прямого ущерба называется сумма в 51 с лишним миллион рублей. Всё это стало известно из постановления о производстве обыска в офисе компании Nginx, которое сначала выложил в твиттер, а потом удалил по требованию МВД сотрудник Nginx Игорь Ипполитов — что, впрочем, не помешало его мгновенному распространению.

Исследование Microsof, в рамках которого пароли Microsoft-аккаунтов сопоставлялись с базой из трёх с лишним миллиардов утекших паролей, показало 44 миллиона совпадений. Для всех потенциальных жертв была запущена процедура принудительной смены пароля.

Не успели любители удалённого доступа вздохнуть спокойно после залатывания уязвимости BlueKeep в RDP, как подоспело исследование от Лаборатории Касперского, описывающего 37 уязвимостей в различных реализациях популярного протокола VNC. Администраторов может слегка утешить тот факт, что большая часть уязвимостей относится к клиентским приложениям, которые выполняют в VNC основную работу по декодированию данных во всевозможных форматах, отправляемых сервером.

Now this is just our kind of funny misunderstanding. Mom overhears her daughter on the phone, pieces together what she heard, leaps to a big assumption, and bam, assumes daughter is pregnant. Naturally, the resulting picture was absurd and totally avoidable. Good stuff. 

Work in any field long enough and you'll see your fair share of wonderfully unprofessional "not my job" moments. There's slides that go right off buildings, misspelled signs and extremely lazy line painting, just to name a few. It makes you feel good about yourself to see people's majestically incompetent "not my job" moments.

Graham doesn't play by the rules. Clearly, Graham is busy enjoying life to the fullest. We just need to make sure that Graham doesn't get behind the wheel after knocking back all that Coors. 

This guy got challenged to make music with bricks, so he went ahead and played The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" with bricks. Um, that's amazing. Had no idea that was possible. 

We love nothing more than when a shady, greedy, all around bad landlord gets dealt the justice that was coming their way. It's a welcomed moment to see the tenant come out victorious over the landlord's stupid antics.

Someone on AskReddit got a fun and enlightening thread going about the various things that school taught us, that we later learned were false. Better to learn that those tidbits of "knowledge" were false, late than never at all.

This manager was power tripping all over the place. Fortunately, the employee was ready to take their revenge, and the manager's fraudulent practices end up being their ultimate undoing. We love a good revenge story where the manager gets what was coming to them in the end. 

Just the idea of finding a worm in a salad is enough to send some shivers running up the spine. Fortunately, in this case, after the worm was discovered, a surprising, but welcomed customer service story developed. Basically, Sainsbury's pulled through in the clutch to address the situation with some serious grace. 

Life is a series of attempts, large and small. Sometimes you're just trying to cook dinner. Sometime's you're trying to change someone's mind, make a point or just impress someone you like. With every attempt there is a risk of failure, and many attempts will dive into a pool of failure.

It's amazing that people still think that it should be common practice to demand work from artists and not have to pay them, but luckily there are times like this when they get called on their BS. The crazy entitlement and unreasonable demands just make them out to be more and more of an utter jerk that no one wants to deal with.

Sex education can be a shock to some kids, and being a teacher trying to get 40 children to not laugh every time you say "testicles" has to be a nightmare. A sex-ed class can become an absolute minefield even when kids aren't asking questions. They don't know any better, and that's the time and place for it, but everyone remembers the awkward questions that got asked in Sex Ed. You can't exactly blame someone's ignorance, but manpeople say some absurdly dumb things in complete seriousness.
