अर्थसंकल्पात वित्तीय क्षेत्रासाठी करण्यात आलेल्या तरतूदी नवीन गुंतवणूकदारांना प्रोत्साहन देणाऱ्या आहेत. भारतातील पहिली महिला बँक सुरू करण्याचा व त्यासाठी सुरुवातीला १००० कोटी रुपयांची तरतूद करण्याचा निर्णय घेण्यात आला आहे. बचतीला चालना देण्यासाठी राजीव गांधी इक्विटी बचत योजनेत अनेक सकारात्मक बदल करण्यात आले आहेत.

उद्योग तसेच पायाभूत सुविधा क्षेत्रातील गुंतवणूकीत भरघोस वाढ होण्यासाठी यंदाच्या अर्थसंकल्पात विशेष उपाययोजना केल्याचे दिसून आले. बाराव्या पंचवार्षिक योजनेच्या कालावधीत (२०१२-१७) पायाभूत सुविधा क्षेत्रात ५५ लाख कोटी रुपयांची गुंतवणूक अपेक्षित असल्याने यातील ५० हजार कोटी रुपयांचा निधी करमुक्त रोख्यांच्या माध्यमातून उभारण्याचे उद्दीष्ट सरकारने आखले आहे.

Thanks to funding from the U.S. Forest Service's Forest Legacy Program, four former Glatfelter Pulp Wood, Inc. forested parcels totaling 371 acres are now part of Redden State Forest. The completion of the $1.35 million purchase this week marked the final phase of the Green Horizons Forest Legacy Program project in Delaware initiated in 2004 with the purchase of an easement on the 908-acre Ponders Tract near Ellendale.

The Fifth Annual Delaware Arborist and Tree Care Seminar will be held on March 3 and 4 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at Hagley Museum & Soda House, 298 Buck Road, Wilmington, DE 19807. The Delaware Forest Service’s 21st Annual Fire Camp will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Redden State Forest from 6:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. The intensive, one-day seminar is the capstone of the agency's wildfire training program to certify its emergency firefighters to meet National Wildfire Coordinating Group standards. In addition to completing an arduous "work capacity test" - which involves carrying a 45-pound pack over a three-mile course in less than 45 minutes - crew members will receive hands-on instruction in several key areas: wildfire suppression techniques, how weather affects fire behavior, crew mobilization and teamwork, water pump and chainsaw usage, and culminating with a “live” controlled burn fire situation.

The 6th Annual Delaware Arborist and Tree Care Seminar will be November 2 and 3, 2016 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Delaware State University, 1200 N. DuPont Highway, Dover. Sponsored by the Delaware Forest Service Urban and Community Forestry Program, the seminar includes classroom lectures, hands-on training, and vendor exhibits offering the latest knowledge and best management practices on tree care, health, and tree worker safety. Continuing education credits for International Society of Arboriculture certification, Tree Care Industry Association and its Certified Tree Care Professional program, Delaware pesticide licensing, and Maryland Licensed Tree Expert certification will be offered. Major sponsors for the 2016 event include Delaware State University, Delmarva Power and Rainbow Scientific. Cost is $95 with lunch included both days.

Speakers include tree care experts, policymakers, and academic researchers who will incorporate classroom lectures, outdoor demonstrations, and vendor exhibits to cover tree pest and disease issues, tree care management, and best practices in worker safety and pesticide use. Attendees can earn continuing education credits toward International Society of Arboriculture and Maryland Licensed Tree Expert certifications, as well as Delaware pesticide credits. The Delaware Forest Service will host an "Urban and Community Forestry Grant Workshop" on Tuesday, February 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Delaware Department of Agriculture, 2320 S DuPont Hwy, Dover, DE 19901, (302) 698-4578. The event is free and open to the public, however, advance registration is required. The Delaware Forest Service's Kesha Braunskill and The Delaware Center for Horticulture's Sam Seo will discuss 2018 urban and community grant opportunities available to all municipalities, homeowner associations, and certified 501 (c)(3) non-profit organizations. Each year, the Delaware Forest Service offers up to $40,000 in grants for tree planting, tree care, and tree management projects on publicly owned lands.

The Delaware Agricultural Lands Preservation Foundation voted to extended district enrollment until December 31, 2018 to any agricultural landowners who want to preserve their farms and still have the opportunity to submit an application for the upcoming round. Farms must be enrolled in a preservation district before the landowner can sell an easement.

A controlled burn on a 43-acre former farm field along U.S. Route 301 will provide fertile ground for "Delaware's first pollinator mitigation site" - where state officials hope native wildflowers will flourish to restore lost habitat for pollinators such as bees and birds. The Delaware Forest Service  conducted the successful firing operation on March 20 in cooperation DelDOT and DNREC's Division of Fish and Wildlife, which supplied valuable personnel, logistical support, and equipment. Thanks to favorable weather conditions and DelDOT lane adjustments on U.S. 301 North, the four-hour burn caused minimal disruptions to traffic and virtually no smoke effects on the adjacent Spring Mill housing development.

Volunteers are needed to plant 2,000 hardwood seedlings at Blackbird State Forest on Saturday and Sunday, April 13 and 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Two seniors from Middletown High School, Bryan Alberding and Nick Kupsick, are leading the project in cooperation with the Delaware Forest Service and the DNREC Nonpoint Source Program (NPS), which is funding the trees. The project will take place on Blackbird State Forest's Naudain Tract, 2076 Harvey Straughn Road, Townsend, Delaware 19734. The rain date is April 27 and 28, 2019.

The Delaware Forest Service will host its "23rd Annual Fire Camp" event at Blackbird State Forest (502 Blackbird Forest Road, Smyrna DE 19977) on Saturday, March 30 from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The intensive one-day seminar is the capstone of the agency’s wildfire training program to certify its emergency firefighters to meet National Wildfire Coordinating Group standards. State forest visitors should be advised that trail closures and other restrictions will be in effect for the event.
