ETSI, with experts from its Center for Testing and Interoperability, in partnership with the 5GAA, is organizing the first C‑V2X Plugtests^TM event.

Hosted by DEKRA in its Connected Vehicle Test Development Centre in Malaga from 2-6 December 2019, the event will enable vendors to run interoperability test sessions to assess the level of interoperability of their implementations and validate their understanding of the standards. Interoperability testing checks that devices built to the same standards can work together and provide the functionalities specified in the standards.

First ETSI C-V2X interoperability event: success rate of 95% achieved

The first ETSI C-V2X Plugtests^TM, performed in partnership with 5GAA, came to a close with a success rate of 95% of the executed tests, showing an extremely positive level of multi-vendor interoperability. 320 test scenarios were executed in lab and field environments for interoperability with 70 people present onsite for testing.

ETSI Open Source MANO unveils Release SEVEN, enables more than 20,000 cloud-native applications for NFV environments

ETSI releases a Technical Report on Global Acceptance of EU Trust Services

The ETSI Technical Committee on Electronic Signatures and Infrastructures (TC ESI) is pleased to release the ETSI TR 103684 technical report. This report addresses existing trust service infrastructures that operate in different regions of the world and their possible mutual recognition/global acceptance. The report identifies ways to facilitate cross recognition between EU trust services and trust services from other schemes. The trust services are based on ETSI standards and support the eIDAS Regulation (EU) No 910/2014.

ETSI issues two major standards for emergency calls: Next Generation 112 and Advanced Mobile Location

ETSI's new Industry Specification Group on Securing Artificial Intelligence (ISG SAI) met last week for its second meeting and appointed Alex Leadbeater (BT) as its Chair. This second meeting, after the launch of the group last October, was also the place to discuss work priorities.

ETSI releases a Technical Report on autonomic network management and control applying machine learning and other AI algorithms

The ETSI Technical Committee on Core Network and Interoperability Testing (TC INT) has just released a Technical Report, ETSI TR 103 626, providing a mapping of architectural components for autonomic networking, cognitive networking and self-management. This architecture will serve the self-managing Future Internet.

The ETSI TR 103 626 provides a mapping of architectural components developed in the European Commission (EC) WiSHFUL and ORCA Projects, using the ETSI Generic Autonomic Networking Architecture (GANA) model.

The objective is to illustrate how the ETSI GANA model specified in the ETSI specification TS 103 195-2 can be implemented when using the components developed in these two projects. The Report also shows how the WiSHFUL architecture augmented with virtualization and hardware acceleration techniques can implement the GANA model. This will guide implementers of autonomics components for autonomic networks in their optimization of their GANA implementations.

The TR addresses autonomic decision-making and associated control-loops in wireless network architectures and their associated management and control architectures. The mapping of the architecture also illustrates how to implement self-management functionality in the GANA model for wireless networks, taking into consideration another Report ETSI TR 103 495, where GANA cognitive algorithms for autonomics, such as machine learning and other AI algorithms, can be applied.

ETSI OSM organizes its first fully remote Hackfest with a record number of participants

These are special times where many face-to-face meetings are being postponed or canceled. But when the going gets tough, the tough gets going and ETSI OSM opted for reorganizing its Hackfest, originally planned as a physical event in Madrid from 9 to 12 March 2020, as a fully remote event. What originally seemed a huge challenge due to the hands-on approach and the high level of interaction required in a Hackfest, proved possible in a record time thanks to the outstanding engagement of the OSM community and the means provided by ETSI, making this Hackfest one of the best attended ever. The 4 days of Hackfest were run in parallel with the OSM Mid-Release EIGHT meeting and the OSM Ecosystem Day, also held remotely.

ETSI Multi-access Edge Computing group reaches 100 members confirming attractiveness of the group

Strategy Analytics believes that 59% of all IoT deployments will be processing data using edge computing of some form by 2025. Furthermore, a survey from ResearchAndMarkets predicts that mobile edge computing as a service market will reach $73M by 2024, driven by enterprise hosted deployments. No wonder that ISG MEC - one of ETSI’s most dynamic Industry Specification Groups - keeps growing and has now welcomed its 100^th member with Mitsubishi Electric R&D Centre Europe.

ETSI launches new group on Non-IP Networking addressing 5G new services

ETSI is pleased to announce the creation of a new Industry Specification Group addressing Non-IP Networking (ISG NIN). The kick-off-meeting took place on 25 March and John Grant, BSI, was elected as the ISG Chair, and Kevin Smith, Vodafone, was elected as ISG Vice Chair.

With the increasing challenges placed on modern networks to support new use cases and greater connectivity, Service Providers are looking for candidate technologies that may serve their needs better than the TCP/IP-based networking used in current systems.

ISG NIN intends to develop standards that define technologies to make more efficient use of capacity, have security by design, and provide lower latency for live media.

ETSI is pleased to announce that it has been invited to be part of the newly formed Stakeholder Cybersecurity Certification Group. The kick-off meeting took place today. Together with the European Cybersecurity Certification Group (ECCG), composed of Member States’ representatives, the newly established Stakeholder Cybersecurity Certification Group (SCCG) will advise the Commission on strategic issues regarding the European cybersecurity certification framework. It will also assist the Commission in the preparation of the Union rolling work programme, which sets the priorities for the definition of schemes within the EU cybersecurity certification framework. ETSI will bring in its long-standing experience in cybersecurity, with standards developed both for enterprises and consumers within several of its technical bodies, including the Technical Committee CYBER.

ETSI releases world-leading Consumer IoT Security standard

The ETSI Technical Committee on Cybersecurity (TC CYBER) today unveils ETSI EN 303 645, a standard for cybersecurity in the Internet of Things that establishes a security baseline for internet-connected consumer products and provides a basis for future IoT certification schemes. Based on the ETSI specification TS 103 645, EN 303 645 went through National Standards Organization comments and voting, engaging even more stakeholders in its development and ultimately strengthening the resulting standard. The EN is a result of collaboration and expertise from industry, academics and government.

Much more than “bells and whistles”, Release EIGHT brings a new framework for the real-time gathering of metrics and alerts, designed to manage service assurance in large production deployments. Although this new framework is agnostic of the specific monitoring method, Release EIGHT makes the use of SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) monitoring particularly easy, considering its vast popularity in commercial VNFs (Virtual Network Functions).

ETSI C-V2X Plugtest achieves interoperability success rate of 94%

ETSI has just released the report of its 2nd C-V2X Plugtests event organized remotely in partnership with the 5GAA the last week of July. The 81 remote participants benefited from ETSI’s remote lab to run their sessions in their own labs. Observers from different organizations witnessed the execution of 288 test sessions based on the ETSI test specification ETSI TS 103 600, and interoperability results were reported in the Test reporting tool. An overall interoperability success rate of 94% was achieved.
