Haskell Volleyball faced Cottey College and Ottawa University this week with a win and a loss at home.  

Haskell women's volleyball will travel to Lincoln College today to participate in pool play Friday 11/15/19!

Six Haskell Volleyball players were awarded Associatio of Independent Institution Awards. 

Haskell will play the third seed, Lincoln Christian College for a chance to play in the A.I.I. Conference Championship game.

In the full return of track and field to the Haskell campus, the women's team finished Friday's conference championships in second place.  Leading the day off for the Indians was Leslie Waseta, a freshman thrower from Zuni, NM.

The final competition of the fall men's golf season was held at the Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City.  Hosted by Avila University, the Indians were hoping to close out the event with a solid performance both Monday and Tuesday.  However, HINU could not break the habit which plagued them early in the season.

The most important part of the men's golf season is traditionally held in the spring when post-season competition can lead to a national championship.  Before the team entered the spring, Head Golf Coach Gary Tanner recognized four players for their past performance at a recent home volleyball match.

Lawrence, Kansas – The Haskell men's golf team finished eighth at the Ottawa Invitational held at Eagle Bend Golf Course on Tuesday evening. The Indians finished with a two round score of 678. 

Haskell Golf team would have finished out their season at the PGA Minority National Championship Tournament in Port St. Lucie, Florida this weekend. The team was informed that they had two players fall below hour's just days before leaving towards Florida.

The collegiate races for the Haskell Invitational have been rescheduled for October 11 at 4pm.

The 2019 Haskell cross country schedule has been released and the Indians will compete at seven regular season meets before postseason action begins. The Purple and Gold will also play host to the Association of Independent Institutions conference meet as the defending champions on the men's side.

Both Women's and Men's Cross Country improved their overall standings this weekend at the bearcat Open.

Haskell Cross Country travels to Rim Rock meet at KU on Saturday October 5th, 2019. 

Both Men's and Women's Cross Country were put the the test at the Rim Rock Classic XC Meet with unpleasant weather. 

This week Cross Country is training for their first home meet on Saturday October 12, 2019 at 9:15 & 10:00 am during Homcoming Weekend!

Haskell Cross Country teams traveled to Mount Mercy in Iowa this past Saturday and performed well a week before A.I.I. Championship Meet on Saturday 11/9/19.

Haskell Track and Field is finally back …. Approximately four years ago the Haskell Track and Field Program was put on hold.  A couple of years later the distance portion of Track and Field returned.  In 2011-2012, Haskell opened up the Indoor and Outdoor Seasons to include the addition of sprints, mid-distance, and throws.  Yesterday at the Emporia State Twilight Meet the Indians added long jump, triple jump, and a relay team to the track and field mix. 

NCAA Division II, Emporia State University served as the 2^ndmeet of the Outdoor Track and Field season for the Indians.  Highlights from the meet include:

Ian Stand, a sophomore from Bay Point, California returned to the discus ring and completed a toss of 36.52 meters, an improvement from his first meet.  Stand, also earned a seventh place finish in the shot put with a distance of 10.76 meters.

Billy Mills (Track & Field) 1953-57
Mills grew up on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation for the Oglala Lakota Tribe in Pine Ridge, S.D. Growing up Mills participated in boxing and running but did not hone his skills on the track until he came to Lawrence, Kan., and Haskell Institute. Following his time at Haskell, the South Dakota native went onto star at the University of Kansas, where he was a three-time All-American and a Big 8 champion. Aside from his collegiate prowess, Mills did exceptionally well on the international stage, winning Gold in the 10,000 meters during the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo, where he became only the second Native American to capture Gold. The heralded Olympian continued to run after his Tokyo experience, breaking U.S. records in two events (10,000 meters and three mile run), as well as a world record in the six mile. Mills currently lives in Sacramento, Calif., where he is a spokesperson for ‘Running Strong for American Indian Youth' organization. He is also a member of numerous Hall of Fames throughout the nation, including the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame as well as the National Distance Running Hall of Fame.

Last week the weather disrupted the Indians as they opened the Outdoor Season at Pittsburg State University.  Thunderstorms and lightning prevented numerous races and events from running on schedule.  For many, the meet yesterday was their opportunity to finally compete.

Haskell will play host to the 2014 Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on April 25th and 26th.
