Throughout the year, 6 criminal arrests that included 21 charges were recommended from the Department’s Fraud Prevention Bureau to the Department of Justice, and 16 civil cases were brought forward resulting in more than $21,000 in fines. Delaware’s state museum system has been accredited by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the highest recognition afforded to museums in the United States. Administered by the Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs, the system includes five museums as well as the archaeological and historic objects collections curated by the state.

Activities feature two special programs that explore 18th-century trades and pastimes that might have taken place at the property during the lifetime of the “Penman of the Revolution.”

Statistics from the Division of Professional Regulation, which licenses controlled substance prescribers, show a 12-percent drop in opioid prescriptions statewide compared to the first quarter of 2017. The number of Delaware patients being treated with opioid medications has also declined by 8 percent over the same time period, the division reports.

A team of Delaware archeologists and a preeminent anthropologist from the Smithsonian Institution Wednesday will unveil new findings from a years-long study of an archeological site in the West Rehoboth area.

An archaeological study years in the making has revealed a wealth of new information about some of Delaware’s earliest colonial settlers and shed new light on what life would have been like in the region three centuries ago.
