केंद्र सरकार ने मंगलवार रात को पेट्रोल और डीज़ल पर एक्साइज ड्यूटी (Excise duty) बढ़ा दी है. सरकार ने पेट्रोल पर 10 रुपये और डीजल पर 13 रुपये प्रति लीटर एक्साइज ड्यूटी बढ़ाई है.

कोरोनावायरस महामारी (Coronavirus Pandemic) की वजह से नकदी संकट से जूझ रही केंद्र सरकार को पेट्रोल-डीजल (Petrol-Diesel) पर उत्पाद शुल्क (Excise Duty) में बढ़ोत्तरी करने से से चालू वित्त वर्ष में 1.6 लाख करोड़ रुपये का अतिरिक्त राजस्व मिल सकता है.

लॉकडाउन में कम से कम 15 राज्यों में ऑटो फ्यूल पेट्रोल-डीजल की कीमत बढ़ गई हैं. क्योंकि इन राज्यों की सरकारों ने पेट्रोल और डीजल पर वैट (VAT) या वैल्यू ऐडेड टैक्स लगाया है.
