SPS Findings During Pre-Op SSOP Verification

When inspection program personnel (IPP) perform the PHIS ‘Pre-Op SSOP Review and Observation’ task, determine that the establishment is in compliance with 9 CFR 416.11-416.16, but observe sanitation performance standard (SPS) noncompliance (e.g., an unclean wall below a food contact surface), they are to record the ‘Pre-op SSOP Review and Observation’ task results of regulatory compliance and add a directed ‘SPS Verification’ task to document the SPS noncompliance. Access FSIS PHIS Directive 5000.1 Chapter V for additional information.
