Bangkok housing market set to decline amid poor economy

SCB EIC, the research centre of Siam Commercial Bank, predicts that the transfer of new residential units in Greater Bangkok will decline by 10% this year, with a further contraction of 1-3% projected for 2025, mainly due to the country's sluggish economy.

si

Housing market unmoved by rate cut

The recent 0.25-percentage-point cut in interest rates is unlikely to have an immediate effect on the housing market as the reduction is too modest to generate a significant impact, according to SET-listed developer Sena Development.

Increasing costs affect new property projects

Homebuyers are encouraged to choose completed housing or units under construction in existing projects, as housing prices are expected to rise next year because of increasing costs affecting new projects, according to the Real Estate Information Center (REIC).

Tom Cruise's 'Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning' Teaser Trailer

"Everything you are, everything you've done... has come to this." Paramount Pictures has unveiled the epic teaser trailer for the grand finale in the M:I series now officially titled Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning. Apparently they've agreed to finally admit that this will be the last Ethan Hunt movie (hence the title), even though there were rumors that Tom Cruise didn't want to say this yet. The 8th entry in the long running Mission Impossible franchise - and the conclusion to Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One from 2023. Plot details are still a secret - it's obvious Hunt needs to stop a dangerous weapon from destroying the world and will go to the submarine to find out more. The massive cast of Final Reckoning: Tom Cruise with Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, Angela Bassett, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, Frederick Schmidt. Biden’s Green Energy Subsidies Are Making China Great Again – Using Biden-Harris IRA law to ‘expand their solar dominance’

Biden’s Green Energy Subsidies Are Making China Great Again The left-wing site Politico was surprisingly honest with this headline: Biden is desperately trying to lure solar panel production from China to the United States with lavish subsidies. But the companies that are taking the cash and hanging a shingle are… Chinese: When Biden and congressional Democrats passed the […]

UN COP29 climate summit ups ‘climate finance’ target from 2009’s goal of $100 billion a year to ‘a more ambitious goal’ of ‘$1.8 trillion by 2030’ – Seeks ‘a just transition towards sustainability’

Last week, UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) published its report on the quantitative and qualitative elements of the NCQG. It conveys a strong message that global climate finance needs a boost in both quantity and quality to address developing economies’ needs for a just transition towards sustainability and resilience.

“Ultimately, the goal of the NCQG (New Collective Quantified Goal) on climate finance must be to transform the climate finance landscape and herald a new era of mutual trust, cooperation and climate action,” the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) report urges.

Trump wins U.S. presidency! Net Zero, UN climate pacts, Green New Deal & Inflation Reduction Act face ruin

Climate Depot's Marc Morano: "Congratulations to President Trump and Sen. J.D. Vance. Finally, US leadership has returned to fight the international climate agenda. The U.S. will finally have a president back in the Oval Office who will be pro-science, pro-environment, and fight the demented net zero climate agenda, the Green New Deal, and the UN climate treaty process.

President Trump will also be able to face off against the ridiculous, unsustainable, and unscientific claims that emanate from our most esteemed institutions. America will once again be a beacon of scientific realism regarding climate change and energy policy. Bravo!"

Biden will NOT attend UN climate summit in Azerbaijan: Media reacts: ‘US absence at COP29 signals retreat from climate action, jeopardizing global emission-cutting goals’ – ‘Particularly concerning’

https://tribune.com.pk/story/2508719/shifting-climate-priorities After years of urgent calls for climate action, global leaders from key economies are now opting out of the United Nations COP29 summit in Baku, Azerbaijan – a troubling signal for international climate efforts. CNN: At UN climate summit, ‘diplomats are fretting over what Trump’s victory means for the planet’ – ‘It’s a depressing story’

CNN on Trump's victory: A U-turn on US climate policy could be disastrous for the planet, as it raises the risk of emulation. When America does something on the world stage, at least some countries tend to follow. “Paris is one of those agreements where you need a critical mass of economic powers and emitters, past and present, to actually be able to address this challenge,” said Oli Brown, an associate fellow at the London-based think tank Chatham House. ...

“And it will allow big emitters to not take the kind of ambitious action that’s needed, because they don’t want to be at a competitive disadvantage to the US, if the US is unburdened by any sense of collective responsibility,” he told CNN. ...

But the real sting is, that as the world’s biggest economy, the US has more power than any other country to fund climate change action in the developing world. Even if it stays in the Paris Agreement, an “America First” Trump administration is unlikely to be more generous with grants and loans for other countries’ green transition. That alone sets the talks up for failure — their main aim was to agree to a transfer $1 trillion a year from wealthy countries and institutions to help developing nations build clean energy systems and to adapt to worsening extreme weather, like heat waves, floods, drought, storms and wildfires.

President of UN climate summit: ‘At Cop29, we must treat the climate crisis with the same urgency as Covid – history shows it can be done’

To prevent the gravest human, ecological and economic toll, it is crucial to cut emissions before it’s too late. Without investing in adaptation measures that fortify nations against the impacts of climate-driven events such as hurricanes and droughts, widespread damage becomes inevitable. The greater the damage, the more it will cost countries to rebuild. Prevention is preferable to cure, but our planet is already ailing. Immediate action is crucial to halt further decline.

Not only is such funding necessary, it is possible. This has been done before: when struck with another crisis, Covid-19, advanced economies marshalled $8tn over the course of just 48 months to support their citizens and businesses. The challenge of the day was met. We must treat climate change with the same urgency.

Azerbaijani president & UN climate summit host calls oil a ‘gift of God’ in COP29 speech – ‘The people need them’ – Slams Western ‘fake news media’

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, has accused Western "fake news media" and environmental organizations of a slander campaign against his country, in his address to fellow leaders...Aliyev repeated his controversial quote that Azerbaijan's oil and gas reserves are a "gift of the God [sic]." "Countries should not be blamed for having them and should not be blamed for bringing these resources to the market because the market needs them, the people need them," he said. Oil and gas are natural resources, just like gold, copper, wind or the sun. "To accuse us that we have oil is the same like [sic] to accuse us that we have more than 250 sunny days a year in Baku," he said.

Cruising Has No Limits Preview

It is all this, but Lin and Larry's latest documentary: Cruising Has No Limits shows you how it can be so much more. Join Lin and Larry at their New Zealand home base as they recount some of their most memorable adventures during more than 30 years of cruising.

Sail with them across the Indian Ocean on board 29-foot, 9-inch Taleisin. Learn how they planned and executed a seven month "Champagne Safari on a Beer Budget," outfitting a 4X4 to reach remote corners of southern Africa. Share their memories of campfire evenings with Kalahari Bushmen, life in a sculptors' commune in Zimbabwe's northern reaches, and days of animal-watching at waterholes far from game reserves. Then voyage onward with them to Brazil, and see how two 14-year-old passengers led them into a unique, eight-month-long island encounter with nine Brazilian families who dreamed of their own off shore adventures. Finally, sail north through the Atlantic to Ireland's music-filled shores and a summer of history, classic sailing, and friendship.
Along the way, you'll learn some of the truisms that could help you get out adventuring sooner and more enjoyably—whether on the water or on land. You'll also come to know more about this longtime cruising couple who have been dubbed "the enablers" because of their enthusiasm and willingness to share their secrets for exploring the far corners of the world on a limited budget.
"After voyaging tens of thousands of engineless miles under sail, penning more useful marine books than Hiscock and Moitessier combined, and receiving more awards for their pursuits than Tom Hanks has for his, Lin and Larry Pardey are entitled to their well-earned nautical opinions."
