The Gujarat high court has granted temporary bail to a murder accused to observe fasts during the holy month of Ramzan. He will have to surrender to jail on May 25, after Eid-ul-Fitr.​

With as many as 390 more people testing coronavirus positive since previous night, the total number of Covid-19 cases in Gujarat reached 7,403 on Friday, a health official said.

In the ward of Covid-19 patients, one could expect the medicine, anaesthesia or pulmonology experts at work. But if one visits Civil Hospital, the treating doctor could well be on his/ her way to become ophthalmologist, gynaecologist or general surgeon! In SVP hospital, he or she may be specialising in psychiatry too!

The Gujarat high court rebuked the erstwhile royal family of the princely state of Bhavnagar for its "dishonest intention" to claim a land parcel in an unauthorized manner from the Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation.

Hundreds of brick kiln workers and their families from Dahanu and Talasari talukas stranded in Gujarat since the lockdown began, are waiting to return to their homes.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, which had marked four hotels as Covid care centres till now, will now have 100 more hotels with a bed capacity of 3,175 for the purpose. In another important development, the civic body has planned a massive sanitization campaign in AMC areas from Saturday.

Internet Archive has launched a National Emergency Library, containing over 1.4 million ebooks that are usually restricted by institutional passwords and paywalls. These are freely available during the Covid-19 crisis until 30 June 2020.
