The Netherlands is failing to vigorously pursue foreign bribery allegations and must do more to enforce its foreign bribery laws. Fourteen out of 22 foreign bribery allegations have not triggered the opening of an investigation, calling into question the Netherlands’ ability and proactivity in investigating and prosecuting this crime.

Mr. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, visited The Hague on 23 and 24 April 2014 to present the 2014 Economic Survey of the Netherlands as well as the OECD Review of Innovation Policy and the Territorial Review of the country. The tax burden in the Netherlands increased by 0.4 percentage points from 35.9% to 36.3% in 20121. The average VAT/GST standard rate in the OECD was 19.1% on 1 January 2014.

Going for Growth 2015: Key findings for the Netherlands
