The domestic equity barometers traded near the day's high in morning trade. The Nifty was trading above the 9300 mark. Buying in index major Reliance Industries (RIL) pushed the benchmarks higher. At 10:29 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was up 441.29 points or 1.40% at 31,884.67. The Nifty 50 index rose 122.10 points or 1.33% at 9,321.15.

Gillette India fell 1.13% to Rs 4,934.50 after net profit slumped 40.31% to Rs 52.38 crore on a 12.66% drop in net sales to Rs 406.57 crore in Q3 March 2020 over Q3 March 2019.

Biocon gained 1.82% to Rs 356 after the company said it received establishment inspection report (EIR) for small molecules API manufacturing facility in Bengaluru.

NLC India fell 0.46% to Rs 43.70 after the company said eight workers were injured in a fire accident at the TS II power plant in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu.

IndusInd Bank Ltd is quoting at Rs 461.45, up 1.56% on the day as on 12:54 IST on the NSE. The stock is down 68.75% in last one year as compared to a 17.57% slide in NIFTY and a 31.78% slide in the Nifty Bank index.

HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd is quoting at Rs 519.65, up 5.08% on the day as on 12:54 IST on the NSE. The stock is up 26.88% in last one year as compared to a 17.57% slide in NIFTY and a 20.42% slide in the Nifty Financial Services index.

At 13:30 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was up 433.52 points or 1.38% at 31,876.29. The Nifty 50 index rose 120 points or 1.3% at 9,319.05

Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Health Care rose 0.27% to Rs 10190.15 after net profit rose 1.1% to Rs 91.10 crore on 6.2% decline in net sales to Rs 656.05 crore in Q3 March 2020 over Q3 March 2019.

In the broader market, the S&P BSE Mid-Cap index was up 0.22% while the S&P BSE Small-Cap index down 0.1%.

Healthcare Global Enterprises Ltd, Ganges Securities Ltd, Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd and The Byke Hospitality Ltd are among the other losers in the BSE's 'B' group today, 08 May 2020.

Laurus Labs Ltd, RBL Bank Ltd, Bandhan Bank Ltd and Torrent Power Ltd are among the other losers in the BSE's 'A' group today, 08 May 2020.

Adani Gas rose 3.55% to Rs 107.85 after standalone net profit surged 61% to Rs 122 crore on 1% fall in revenue from operations to Rs 490 crore in Q4 March 2020 over Q4 March 2019.

As per provisional closing, the barometer S&P BSE Sensex gained 199.32 points or 0.63% at 31,642.70. The Nifty 50 index gained 51.55 points or 0.56% at 9,250.60.

An Indian national will stand trial in Germany accused of spying on Sikh and Kashmiri communities for New Delhi's secret service, a court said Friday. Federal prosecutors allege the suspect, identified as 54-year-old Balvir, has been working with the Indian foreign intelligence agency Research & Analysis Wing since 2015. "He allegedly provided information about figures in the Sikh opposition scene and the Kashmiri movement and their relatives in Germany, and passed this on to his handlers who were working at the Indian consulate general in Frankfurt," the higher regional court in the city said in a statement. The trial will open on August 25. The same Frankfurt court convicted an Indian couple for spying on the same communities last December.

Venezuela's chief prosecutor ordered the arrest Friday of a former Green Beret and two opposition figures living in the United States for their purported role in a botched operation aimed at removing Nicols Maduro from power. Nepal police on Friday arrested 45 Chinese nationals stranded in the country because of coronavirus restrictions after a protest turned violent, authorities said. Holding placards such as "I want to go home!" they attempted to push towards a prohibited zone near the prime minister's office in Kathmandu. Some police as well as demonstrators were injured after police used batons to stop them and the protesters threw stones. "They may face charges of protesting in the restricted zone and violating the lockdown under existing laws," police spokeswoman Kiran Bajracharya told AFP. Nepal suspended international flights on March 22 as part of precautionary measures against the spread of the coronavirus, and remain so until at least May 31. While several countries, including the US, the UK, Australia and France have chartered evacuation flights for their citizens in Nepal, no official flights have been made to rescue stranded Chinese nationals.

Britain's minister for the environment, food and rural affairs says Prime Minister Boris Johnson won't be announcing immediate changes to the country's coronavirus lockdown when he addresses the nation on Sunday. George Eustice said the U.K. is not out of the woods and that there isn't going to be any dramatic overnight change to the lockdown. He said the government will be very, very cautious in loosening the restrictions. Johnson is expected to set out a roadmap of how the U.K. can start easing the lockdown in the future. Only minor changes, such as allowing individuals to sunbathe in parks and removing the limit on one daily outing for exercise, are anticipated. Eustice also revealed that another 626 people have died after testing positive for COVID-19 in all settings, including hospitals and care homes. That takes the U.K. total to 31,241, the second highest official death toll in the world behind the United States.
