Canada temple cancels event over 'imminent threat'

The Brampton Triveni temple in Canada has cancelled a consular event after the Canadian police warned them of an "extremely high and imminent" threat level of violent protests. The Life Certificate event, organised by the Consulate General of India, Toronto, was scheduled for November 17 at the temple premises. The cancellation comes almost a week after protestors carrying Khalistani flags clashed with devotees at a Hindu Sabha temple and disrupted an event co-organised by the temple authorities and the Indian Consulate at Brampton. India condemned the attack and called for the prosecution of those involved. Relations between India and Canada have been strained since Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations in September last year of a potential involvement of Indian agents in Khalistan extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar's killing.

Year after woman's death police find lover killed her

More than a year after a woman's body was recovered from a creek in Thane district, police have found that she was pushed to death from a bridge by her lover for resisting his sexual advances. The 23-year-old victim, identified as Mansi Bhoir, had disappeared in November last year. Police have arrested two accomplices of the main accused, who is already in jail in a separate case. The case was cracked after the police investigated another woman's murder case and identified the victim based on a tattoo and other features. The investigation revealed that the accused, Adil Sheikh, was frequently in touch with Mansi before her disappearance and was in the vicinity of the Kalwa creek on the night of November 4, when Bhoir's body was found. The police said that during their meeting, Sheikh pushed Mansi off the bridge after she resisted his sexual advances. He then called two associates who helped him push Mansi to death from the pillar. Her body was discovered some kilometres away. The two accomplices have been arrested, while the main accused is already in jail for attempted murder.

Kharge's mother, sister killed by Razakars but....: Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, alleging that the latter purposely keeps mum on the tragic death of his mother and sister in an attack by Razakars in order to avoid losing Muslim votes. Adityanath claimed that Kharge's village, Varawatti, was burned down by Razakars and that his mother, aunt, and sister died in the attacks. He accused Kharge of suppressing this painful personal memory for political expediency and for fear of losing Muslim votes. Adityanath also alleged that Congress ignores historical atrocities for the sake of vote bank politics and conveniently forgets the history of the Razakars.
