Monitor temperature, strain, voltage or current signals with Biodata's Microlink 770 unit. Supplied with Windmill and Streamer software for Windows, it captures data at up to 100 kHz and has many triggering options. The Microlink is quick to install and easy to use, and is ideal for portable applications such as collecting data from moving vehicles. Other applications include crash testing, product testing and dynamic strain measurement.

New system accurately counts people entering and leaving retail outlets, galleries, nightclubs, banks, shopping centres, and so on. A CCTV camera tracks visitors which a compact Video Turnstile unit then detects, counts and logs. Counts are regularly downloaded to a PC running Windows software.

Windmill v6 modular data acquisition and control software suite collects data from sensors and equipment such as thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, USB and Modbus devices. It runs under Windows 98 and later, and all programs are ready-to-run with no programming required. Software provides 4 choices of how to trigger data logging: when equipment sends new data, when readings cross alarm threshold, on pressing space bar on keyboard, or upon pressing software Start button.

Windmill launched Monitor in August 1998 and mailed it to just 42 people. Very soon after they started offering their data acquisition software suite free to everyone signing up. At that time it cost non-subscribers Euro 500,00 to purchase the software - so not surprisingly a great many people took advantage and tried the software for free. In fact, around 70% of subscribers still download the software and they've given away over 17000 copies of Windmill! It is interesting to see how the GOP is struggling to keep the seats in the forthcoming elections. Rush Limbaugh is angry about a GOP pre-mortem comment. The main problem with today's conservatives is that they are not able to defend capitalism in a principled way. It could be the case that they hesitate to support capitalism due to their "pork" addiction... Here is a quote from Gary Shapiro's article, Clemson University Establishes a Think Tank Devoted to Studying the Moral Basis of Capitalism:

The Clemson institute, Mr. Thompson said, faces what he calls an "anti-capitalist bias" among most of the intellectual elite in America. "It began in the last the quarter of the 19th century and picked up steam," he said. "For well over 100 years, the cultural elite in universities have been opposed to capitalism and have set the terms of this debate, which is why the Republican Party in general and conservative intellectuals in particular have not been able to defend capitalism on moral grounds."
