mi Tom's holiday / Michelle McLaughlin ; illustrated by Morgan Todonai. By www.catalog.slsa.sa.gov.au Published On :: "Tom's Holiday is all about road safety for young children. Tom and his family park the car and head for the beach at a little beachside village. The beachside village is different from home in the city - there are no footpaths. Mum and Dad teach Tom that we must be careful because holiday towns don't have kerbs and gutters. The roads can be thin and there aren't white lines. It's very important that children hold their parent's hand" -- From the Internet. Full Article

mi Basin Plan Evaluation 2017 - social and economic technical overview. By www.catalog.slsa.sa.gov.au Published On :: Implementing the Basin Plan requires the Murray Darling Basin Authority to evaluate the economic, social and environmental outcomes directly attributable to the Basin Plan. This report draws together all the data and modelling used to separate the Basin Plan effects (both positive and negative) from all the other drivers of change at the community scale in the southern Basin. This work built upon the analysis undertaken by the MDBA to support the Northern Basin Review. The community-level analysis adopted by the MDBA complements the industry and broad Basin-scale summary of social and economic conditions presented in the 2017 Basin Plan Evaluation report. A strong reliance is placed on the community outcomes as this represents the finer scale relationships between the types of irrigated production and local businesses, and between the towns and the surrounding farming communities. Further work is required to align these community-level outcomes with the observed regional, industry and Basin scale changes. Full Article

mi The China Defence Universities Tracker : exploring the military and security links of China's universities / Alex Joske. By www.catalog.slsa.sa.gov.au Published On :: The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is building links between China’s civilian universities, military and security agencies. Those efforts, carried out under a policy of leveraging the civilian sector to maximise military power (known as ‘military–civil fusion’), have accelerated in the past decade. Research for the China Defence Universities Tracker has determined that greater numbers of Chinese universities are engaged in defence research, training defence scientists, collaborating with the military and cooperating with defence industry conglomerates and are involved in classified research.1 At least 15 civilian universities have been implicated in cyberattacks, illegal exports or espionage. China’s defence industry conglomerates are supervising agencies of nine universities and have sent thousands of their employees to train abroad. Full Article
